Aesop was so addicted to staying home that his dad kicked him out. Looking at his empty wallet, he had no choice but to start looking for work.
He took three jobs, only to discover that all three bosses were completely nuts.
The first boss did nothing but cackle “Hehehe” all day, and would stay up past midnight, standing in the doorway and dragging you into philosophical discussions.
The second boss always had a crooked grin. He was either picking a fight or on his way to pick one.
The third boss was even worse. He never paid a salary, just kept dangling empty promises, and gave no days off all year long!
Aesop put up with it again and again, until he finally couldn't take it anymore and packed up and ran.
He heard that the enemies of the three bosses offered high salaries and great benefits, and even their security guards got weekends off every week. After work, there was beer and barbecue, too. Aesop immediately grabbed his resume and rushed to join them.
But after he was hired, he discovered that the job wasn't nearly as easy as he'd imagined, and that he was surrounded by a group of people who were impossible to describe.
The ridiculous lies he'd made up to craft a villainous persona back when he was a villain sent him down a one-way road to becoming a tragic, beautiful, and powerful figure. Anything ordinary he said was twisted into a display of stoic endurance.
Everyone believed he was a pitiful soul whose mother had died young and whose father was cruel, who'd had a miserable childhood and been forced to join the villains to avenge his dead friend, then finally come to his senses and helped them atone after his friend was resurrected and talked him around.
But in reality...
Aesop: I mean, is it possible that my species can reproduce without a partner, that I was wandering around because I got kicked out for freeloading off my parents, and that I joined the villains just to get a job? And that friend... was my cat!!!
Li San transmigrated into a space-opera novel he'd read, and, to survive, immediately latched onto the protagonist. All he had to do every day was recruit subordinates for him, and life was incredibly comfortable.
Until that day.
“Hello, I'm here to apply for the job.” Aesop sat up straight, hands on his knees, looking extremely well-behaved.
Li San's hand trembled slightly as he held the resume.
Damn! Can someone tell me why the villain's second-in-command, the final big boss of this novel, is interviewing at my company?!
He looked down at the desired position.
Written there in bold were two words:
Security guard.
Li San: ?
When I type a question mark, it doesn't mean there's something wrong with me. It means there's something wrong with you.
Warning:
A beautiful, powerful, tragic character gets misunderstood by everyone. The main appeal is watching the protagonist spout nonsense and enjoy himself early on, then despair as everyone imagines all sorts of things about him later (XD).
In the eyes of the supporting cast, he's beautiful, powerful, and tragic. In reality, he's just an employee who wants to slack off every day. He's maxed out in strength, but likes to pretend he's weak.
Aesop's motto: Not slacking off at work is like going to the bathroom without your phone! Don't you know that if you look too capable, your boss will exploit you?
Theme: Reject empty promises and keep your feet on the ground
