The Sword Cultivator Is Slaying Everything in the Horror Game

Shi Ling always felt she had bad luck. For instance, back when her sect had culture classes, everyone would slack off, but she was always the only one who got caught. On her first trip down the mountain for experience, a con artist pretending to be a disciple of the Tianji Sect swindled her out of every last coin she had.

Everyone knows sword cultivators are poor, so how could anyone even swindle a sword cultivator?

And then there was this time. She had finally made it into a small secret realm and thought her luck had turned around, only to discover that she and the others seemed to have entered different secret realms...

Wearing a flowing blue robe that looked completely out of place, she sat at the dining table before a bloody dinner. As the chef smiled ominously and the unfamiliar players turned pale, the sword cultivator, whose spiritual power had inexplicably been sealed, smiled brightly and started talking nonsense: “This humble Daoist has transcended the need for food and no longer eats mortal grains.”

After leaving the first instance, Shi Ling discovered a whole new world. She started reading forums and lurking in threads, and even picked up those supposedly hilarious modern expressions!

Then, in the second instance, Shi Ling was given the role of a ghost wedding bride. Facing the ghost groom, she drew her sword and adapted a forum user's catchphrase: “We sword cultivators have a saying: The first sword of cultivation is to cut down your beloved. :)”

When she discovered that she got one layer of spiritual power back after each instance, Shi Ling thought, “I get it! This must be the secret realm’s trial!”

Tips:

1. The female lead is a little mischievous. The style is my usual silly nonsense.

2. The female lead may be mischievous, but her values are very upright (though not by modern standards, and a little upright to the point of seeming downright unhinged). When forced to choose between her life and the greater good, she chooses the greater good, thanks to her sect’s teachings. If you can’t accept that, click away early.

3. I kicked the original male lead down to the supporting cast. He’s basically a Pokemon.

4. There’s no CP in this story anymore. I broke up the originally planned pairing.
