Life in the Prince's Rear Court

She woke from a dream to find herself the daughter of a general. The body's original owner had thrown herself into a lake rather than become a prince's consort. After three days of raging fever, the one who woke up was an outsider: her.

The imperial palace was a dangerous place, and after watching so many palace-intrigue dramas, she wanted even less to become a prince's consort. So she hurried to find herself a husband who wasn't afraid of princes and had powerful connections: the emperor's youngest brother, the Ninth Prince, famed for his astonishing looks.

But good things never come easily. Just as she finally won the cold-faced prince's approval and he picked an auspicious day to visit her family and propose, she discovered that the emperor also wanted her to enter the palace as his consort...

The emperor's power was unfathomable, and fate was hard to defy. How could she get what she wanted?

Scene 1: In the middle of the night at the prince's mansion, she secretly climbed over the wall and headed straight for his bedroom. The moment she pushed open the door, he woke up. Looking at her disheveled clothes, he frowned. "Have you no regard for a woman's basic modesty?"

She smiled. "What's modesty? How much does it cost per pound?"

Scene 2: On their wedding day, in the bridal chamber, she stood in front of a bronze mirror in her wedding dress, admiring herself. "Mirror, mirror, how can I be this beautiful?" He came in after the wedding banquet and said nothing: "..."

Scene 3: In the garden of the prince's mansion, the secondary consort wept prettily. "Why does His Highness still dote on the princess consort when she's so uncouth?" Nearby, the sweetly smiling princess consort uprooted all the flowers her rival loved and tied them into a bouquet. She placed it in his arms and smiled. "Flowers for a beauty. Simply splendid, simply splendid."
