Generally speaking, in an ancient setting with men who can bear children, every village has a strong woman who raises her only son alone. Then that son gets transmigrated into by someone from Earth? Blue Star.

But perhaps because our protagonist's mother didn't raise him alone, our protagonist, Liu Mengshu, is a native born and raised in this world. No one transmigrated into him.

Liu Mengshu is in poor health. For various reasons, he becomes the child bride of a male who has a bad reputation in the neighboring village.

Liu Mengshu thinks this is just how his life will be. He seems to be unlucky all the time. In what should have been peaceful times, there are two conscription drives in a row, taking his father and eldest brother. His mother takes him to seek refuge with relatives, but drowns while doing laundry.

Shou's point of view:

Perhaps because he was born into a hunter's family and grew up eating meat and exercising, Lian Xiao is stronger than most men who can bear children. Conscription takes his father and younger brother, but Lian Xiao, with his hunting skills, still manages to provide well for his mother and younger sister. By chance, he even goes into business and becomes wealthy.

To avoid paying the increasingly expensive annual bachelor tax, Lian Xiao decides to find a partner. As it happens, a sickly man in the neighboring village desperately needs money for treatment, so Lian Xiao acquires himself a child bride.

At first, he only plans to keep him at home like a decorative vase. But when he sees the sickly young man, he catches sight of Liu Mengshu's still-lovely face, though he has grown thin and gaunt, and changes his mind.

How could someone so beautiful exist in this world? How could someone like him be left to dig for food in the fields? He should be kept amid gold and jade, not stuck in a leaky, rain-soaked thatched hut.
