A White Dove Flies Over Midsummer

At the start-of-term assembly in her second year of high school, Lu Youtian stood at the back of the line, gazing from afar at Song Yufei onstage.

He stood before the microphone, the breeze lifting the edge of his white shirt like a pair of unfurled wings. He seemed to shine with boundless radiance.

Only later did she learn that even the top student admired by the whole school could cry.

Song Yufei crouched beside a dilapidated pigeon coop, an unshed tear trembling on his lashes.

She stood behind him, at a loss for what to do. In the end, all she managed to stammer was, "D-do you want to feed the pigeons?"

After the White Dove Club was founded, Lu Youtian found precious friendship.

The five of them made a solemn promise: they'd get into their dream universities together!

But in the end, Song Yufei disappeared, like a migratory bird that never returned after wintering.

And with him went Lu Youtian's unrequited love, which had come to nothing.

Ten years later, Lu Youtian returned to her alma mater as a teacher. The girl who once stuttered had become Ms. Lu, standing at the lectern.

One evening, a student mysteriously led her to the pigeon coop.

"Ms. Lu, have you heard the story of the White Dove Boy?"

"We found a box on the top level of the pigeon coop. Your name is written on it."
