A Farmer's Son's Road to Success in the Imperial Exams

Wei Zhao transmigrates into a story about a male lead who rises through the imperial exams, becoming the vicious cannon-fodder character.

In the original plot, his cousin Wei Yan is exceptionally talented and brilliant, passes the exams one after another, and rises to the highest ranks of the court.

As for Wei Zhao, out of jealousy toward his own cousin, he repeatedly schemes against him. He becomes a ridiculous clown, and eventually dies far from home, his body never found...

The transmigrated Wei Zhao thinks the original owner's intelligence is appalling. He had a perfectly good powerful ally to lean on, yet chose to fight him instead. How is that not stupid?

So Wei Zhao quickly sets his life goals:

Study, take the imperial exams, and cuddle up to Big Brother~

But there's a problem right now. The original owner just took the male lead's place at the school, and the school refuses to make an exception and admit another student... What should he do?!

Years later,

Wei Zhao passes the county-level exam, and his cousin is already a provincial graduate!

Wei Zhao passes the provincial exam, and his cousin is already the top scholar!

By the time Wei Zhao passes the palace exam and prepares to find an easy job where he can safely cling to his powerful ally and coast through life,

his cousin... his cousin has been dismissed from office?!

For the first half of his life, Wei Yan carried the hopes of his entire family on his shoulders. He studied for the imperial exams and entered government service.

To outsiders, his life looked glorious, but only he knew

that this was not what he wanted.

He thought this was simply how his life would go, never imagining that his cousin would make his way up step by step and pass the same exams...

Wei Yan: Sorry, little brother. When it comes to a great chance like leaning on a powerful patron and getting rescued, you snooze, you lose!

Wei Zhao... What else can Wei Zhao do? He'll just have to work hard, rise through the ranks, make a fortune, and save his cousin!
