Also titled The Little Military Household
A gentle, unambitious bottom × an overbearing, devoted top
The Tao family traded three sheep to a human trafficker for a little boy. They renamed him Tao Xiu and bestowed upon him an inescapable "ancestral occupation": military household status.
As a lowly member of a military household, he naturally had to steal chickens and dogs. He was caught stealing his fifth water caltrop by Gong Yilin, a young aristocrat. The little rascal nearly killed him in a pond that August.
The two became enemies. Five years later, they met again. The first to fall in love would lose.
Gong Yilin lost utterly. All the swagger with which he had once lorded it over the little military boy turned into love at first sight the moment he saw him again. His agonizing secret crush left the young nobleman distracted and restless, turning his lofty self into a lovesick admirer. His chronic illness, which meant that any setback would surely bring on a serious bout of sickness, made love a constant torment. Still, he was happy to do Tao Xiu's bidding.
Then one day, Tao Xiu's true identity was discovered. Gong Yilin realized that taking this little military boy to bed was a crime against heaven, and if anyone found out, his entire clan could be exterminated.
* * *
The winds of change blew, and war broke out everywhere. The southern city fell in a single battle. The army marched out at dawn and did not return by nightfall. In the end, the country fell.
After the fall of the country and the deaths of his family, Gong Yilin returned after eight years apart, stripped of power and hope, to the hibiscus tree from his youth. The boy who once stole water caltrops from his family's pond was nowhere to be found.
When their relationship is discovered:
Mother: First, let me slap you to calm you down.
Eldest brother: I'll make sure there's not a single person left in the Tao family.
Uncle: Bring out the family punishment. Beat him until he's crippled.
Elder servant: Tsk, tsk, tsk. I knew you wouldn't come to a good end.
Guard: You people sure are naive. What's wrong with two men being especially close?
Ancestors in the family shrine: That was a vicious beating, but why did that Tao boy still end up abandoning him?

???????
Please add it to your reading list, cuties. Let me have a taste of that sweet support!
Theme: Breaking through the gloom and charging forward
The author's writing style is different from others. Others are the protagonist and the winner in the end. This is just the opposite. The protagonist loses in the end. The sentence "Thousands of sails crossing the border" comes to mind. If you know the ending from the beginning, why bother to fight for it? So many people have been sacrificed in vain, so many flesh and blood people have died!!!
It's very well written. Tao Xiu is so miserable and has a bumpy life. He is a very thick character.
After reading it, I feel disappointed. The story is eloquent and relatable. I don't know what to say without any knowledge, the author is amazing!
Ah... The wait is finally here, the follow-up will come soon
Tao Xiu is such a pitiful little person.
JJ is poisonous, why can't I see my comments again...
Kang Le, after so many years of ups and downs, looking back at this rough life, it seems that it didn't last long. I collected this book when it was in the folder before. I was surprised by the beginning of the first two chapters. It looked very cultured (and indeed quite well-educated). I thought I would taste it carefully when I had time, so I put it down until I accidentally opened another book by the author some time ago. This ancient and modern serial made me scratch my head, so I went to finish reading this book. The writing is very good, but very cold. In fact, the writing style is better than that of many high-end books in JJ, and the writing does not have that airy pseudo-ancient feeling, but it is not popular. When I read the article, I really liked the character of Tao Xiu. He is tenacious, invincible, beautiful and strong in flesh and blood. The author gave him a wonderful life and a rich soul. Tao Xiu's life, from childhood to standing tall, from the top of the clouds to the bottom of the mud, was strong and miserable. I really want to ask Tao Xiu how many truly happy times he has spent in this short half of his life. For decades in a hurry, it seems that he has been living for survival and living for others. It seems that there is always something heavy on your shoulders. It is not until the dust finally settles that you can only live for yourself. Can you be better to yourself in the future life? The foreshadowing of life experience is obvious and easy to guess, but I still feel distressed and uncomfortable after actually reading those chapters. I really like to read some plot descriptions about the love between mother and child. This is a big plus point for me if it is well written. Kang Le's first reaction when he learned of his life experience was to ask if his mother was still alive and if he could still see her after sixteen years of separation. The identity of Prince Xiao was not very important to him. The only thing he couldn't let go of was the longing for his mother, which made him return to his hometown. The bright light that had been shining continuously for sixteen years made his mother's melancholy eyes shed tears of grievance that had been delayed for so many years. Speaking of this, I really want to sigh. The princess lost one son for sixteen years, and only had another son for just over sixteen years. The author is quite good at deceiving people. He clearly said that from now on, his feet will be smooth, he will not be injured again, and more people will respect and love him. But what followed were so many battles and such dazzling achievements. In the end, he still only had a crotch armor. It was really sad. He lost everything again, his home and his country. Almost everything he tried his best to preserve was lost between his fingers. He could not hold it firmly and could not protect it. Fortunately, he still has the three people he loves most to accompany him for the rest of his life (he said a lot of words of thanks to the author for showing mercy) As for the emotional line, it is very sweet and cute. Gongyi is the kind of person who is born in the ultimate love. He feels like he will run away with a poor boy at any time. The things he does are indeed similar. The author is very good at writing about youthful love and lingering pathos. There are not many scenes, but the writing is It's very touching. The feeling of the union of two human beings is so moving. Especially the first intimate scene is really enjoyable for me. The feeling of confusion and indescribable indescribable... And, eight years, how many eight years are there in life? It's really cruel😿 This was the first time I read a novel where the protagonist was the loser. In the finale, both their countries were destroyed. I was a little surprised and quickly accepted it. The author wrote it very seriously, and I was mentally prepared for where the story would go. I would like to ask if the teacher likes the Xiao family very much. The protagonists in both books are from the Xiao family, and both the country and the family have been destroyed (laughing helplessly) Occasionally, I can feel some immaturity and immaturity in the author's writing, but after reading the column, I found that it is really amazing to have written so little. In fact, I usually write my thoughts after reading just for my own records. This is also the first time I have posted it in the original comment area. This one is really a bit cold, and I want to express my love and let the author know. Looking forward to the development of the author's next article.
A mother is a mother... The plot of mother and son recognizing each other and being connected by flesh and blood really pokes me forever
What kind of ending would be worthy of his troubled life?
These two chapters were written in a hurry, and the explanations were rushed.
