The Ancestor Comes Down the Mountain

According to legend, a thousand years ago, the Xuan Yi Sect had a brilliant founding master who battled the Ghost Emperor for eighty-one days. In the end, he sacrificed himself to suppress the evil spirits and protect the peace of the mortal world.

But the tale is so old that it can no longer be verified. Even the Xuan Yi Sect itself has stopped believing it.

All that remains is a lone historical record describing how the Xuan Yi Patriarch was a gentleman of impeccable character, clad in three layers of snow-white robes, while the Ghost Emperor was capricious and violent, despising all humankind.

·

Lin Qi, who switched from cultivation to becoming an idol, doesn't believe it either. If the sect really had such an outstanding patriarch, would the Xuan Yi Sect have fallen into such decline, with only him and his master left?

But his master kicks him in the butt, so he goes up the mountain to pay respects to the patriarch. He even loses his phone without realizing it.

A few days later, though, "I'm alive. Come get me."

Lin Qi: "!! Who are you??"

The other side sneers. "Your grandpa, Xie Daoling."

The Xuan Yi Patriarch's surname is Xie.

·

Xie Daoling has a nasty temper and a venomous tongue. Everyone who comes to the Xuan Yi Sect for help, as well as Lin Qi's entertainment-industry coworkers, gets a thorough scolding. One has brought it on themselves, another is a disgrace, and no one escapes. The problem is, his combat skills are maxed out. No one can beat him in a fight or win an argument with him, and the celebrities are left fuming.

Other celebrities' fans: Who are you? Get lost!

Then the other mystical sects show up: Isn't that our patriarch? What is he doing at the Xuan Yi Sect?

Grandstudents arrive to acknowledge their sect ancestor, crowding the entrance, while the rich and powerful flock to him.

But Xie Daoling says, "I don't take junk. Get lost."

The fans are stunned. "I admit we spoke a little too loudly before. What kind of immortal has descended to earth?"

Only Lin Qi grits his teeth in the competition to claim the grandpa: "He's a fraud, don't believe him! What happened to being a gentleman of impeccable character?"

The evil spirits and wicked men, beaten until their faces are black and blue: "Boo-hoo, what gentleman? How can a Taoist priest be this vicious!"

Xie Daoling smiles. "Your grandpa here is a gentleman. Got a problem with that? Come fight me."
