Zhu Huaifeng was a well-known game designer in the industry. Thanks to the blessings of the 996 work schedule, he died suddenly. When he woke up, he had transmigrated to the interstellar era and become...a ball.
Ahem, to be precise, a planet.
This world had just emerged from a war with the Zerg.
Because of this, the most popular games on the StarNet were mostly combat games centered on fighting the Zerg. As for other genres...
They were either aggressively pay-to-win or had bizarre gameplay.
They were a serious assault on the eyes of Zhu Huaifeng, the gaming world's number-one villainous game designer.
The original owner was a young planet who had only just developed a human form and was still rather clueless. Every day, it either roamed through the otherworlds created by games or spun on its axis, spun on its axis, spun on its axis!
And so, this naive planet, lacking a supply of consciousness energy and living off its reserves, lost the consciousness it had struggled so hard to develop.
Zhu Huaifeng had only just transmigrated and hadn't yet figured out who he was. When he learned that he would die again if he didn't replenish his consciousness energy, he collapsed into a dreamless heap.
But then he discovered that technology in this world was highly advanced. Making games didn't require writing endless lines of code that were impossible to read. All it took was ample imagination and mental energy. What's more, when players experienced joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness in games he made himself, that would replenish his consciousness energy. At once, he sat bolt upright as if rising from his deathbed.
Zhu Huaifeng: There's a deal this good? Then let's get grinding!
Not long afterward, a game studio called "East" burst onto the scene. It released one outstanding game after another, all unlike anything on the market, and players who were growing tired of combat games couldn't get enough.
"Aaaah! East is the best! Everything East makes is a masterpiece!"
"Help! Why am I farming during the day and then going home to farm at night too?"
"I strongly suggest setting up a separate leaderboard in the rhythm game for players whose evolution has given them eight tentacles! It's unfair to those of us with fewer hands!"
"Hah, hah, they're all my handsome husbands! I'll stay single for ten years if I can get new cards for my husbands!"
"Floating Cloud Immortal Ship, need two for a three-player run! Need a healer and a tank!"
"Help! Why did that old scoundrel Zhu make a cooking game? I'm starving to death!"
"Not gonna lie, when is that old scoundrel Zhu getting into adult games? I'm already impatient and desperate for them~~"
"They even have free games! I've decided to forgive that scoundrel Zhu Huaifeng!"
Reading that last comment, Zhu Huaifeng pushed up his glasses and smiled calmly.
Child, sometimes free things are the most expensive.
After all, you haven't yet experienced the hell of being unable to choose which DLC to buy ^_^
P.S.
1. A brainless, feel-good story. Everything else takes a back seat to the plot.
2. The games in this story are original, inspired by existing game genres. The sources of inspiration will be noted in the author's notes.
