On the Compatibility of Love Triangles and Sports Anime

A compilation of fun, familiar plots, sports anime mashups, and short stories

“Did you know? I once lost a flower.”

“I really liked it.”

[Fuji x Reader x Tezuka]

She worked up the courage to confess to Fuji, her senior in the tennis club.

He said yes.

But when he turned around, the face beneath his cap belonged to the tennis club captain.

○ Seigaku’s ultimate ship-selection chaos

Damn it! Why don’t the three of you just get together? (Just kidding, no poly relationships here! Absolutely crossing that out.)

[Atobe x Reader x Akashi]

“You’re asking me how to win over Seijuro Akashi?”

Keigo Atobe stared expressionlessly at the childhood friend who had followed him from England to Japan, giving a faint, mocking smile.

“Easy. Do what you used to do to win me over: write him love letters, make him bento, go watch his matches. Go on, give it a try.”

To his surprise, she didn’t pick up on his sarcasm. She actually meant to do it.

So, thanks to Atobe’s deliberate misdirection, a love letter full of misspellings and grammatical errors, sure to make the elegant young gentleman frown, and a bento filled with the wakame and red pickled ginger Seijuro Akashi hated most were delivered to the Akashi residence.

And then she succeeded.

Keigo Atobe: ...? What?

○ A young heir’s romantic battlefield

Which brings us to the question: can a childhood friend really beat someone who appears later?

[Echizen x Reader x Yukimura]

The match was nearing its end.

Ryoma Echizen weighed his racket in his hand, his calm, catlike eyes immediately turning toward her on the sidelines.

...She was watching the “Child of God” on the opposite side.

I’m the one about to win this match.

Why are your eyes still glued to him?

○ The rivals go head-to-head

(I just love this kind of delicious angst. I’ve always wanted to write a love triangle for those two, hehe. You can’t have both the court and romance. Hand it over!)

[Oikawa x Reader x Ushijima]

[Miya Atsumu x Reader x Kageyama]
