The Three-Colored Cat of the Yunque Family

Synopsis:

Even cats have to compete for jobs these days!

As a clever cat, Sanhua has done her research. The most powerful person in this area is called what again?

Right, the Disciplinary Committee Chairman.

As the saying goes, when one person makes it, even their chickens and dogs rise with them. Get in good with someone powerful, and you'll never go hungry!

But that's easier said than done. Luckily, Sanhua has a connection she can use.

That bird on the committee chairman's head was once caught by another cat, and Sanhua rescued it from its claws.

So Sanhua goes to call in a favor.

“Ding dong~ Ding dong~ School song~” Hibari's bird, Hibird, flaps its wings.

Sanhua gets the message. The committee chairman likes singing, but the school song is so dull. She takes the idea and runs with it, singing the national anthem instead.

Sanhua slips into the office and sings her heart out in front of the chairman. “Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow~”

After the performance, Sanhua is escorted out of the Disciplinary Committee Chairman's office.

The cat looks back: !!?

Sanhua tries to call in another favor.

“Beans~ Beans~”

The bird said that, but one day she saw that it loves eating beans!

Still not sure, Sanhua spots the Disciplinary Committee Chairman standing by the door one day, collecting food that people have brought him.

After watching closely, she realizes the offering is the bird!

Well, a cooked bird.

Sanhua is considerate of human customs, so she gets a cooked bird.

Sanhua arrives with a boneless chicken foot she got from a classmate by trading (stealing), wagging her tail.

When the door opens, the cat reverently presents the boneless chicken foot.

The Disciplinary Committee Chairman seems happy to accept it.

Sanhua wanders off, dejectedly wondering whether she'll spend the night under a bridge or beneath a tree. She doesn't notice the approaching footsteps getting closer.

Then suddenly she's lifted into the air by a large hand and set down on a soft carpet.

When she turns around, Sanhua has moved into Hibari's home and is enjoying a luxury apartment.

1. The timeline is set during Namimori High School, and has little to do with the original plot. It's just a sweet little slice-of-life story.

2. Includes a cat-turns-into-a-human plotline, with Sanhua the cat × Hibari as the pairing.

3. The cat on the cover is a stock image from an image website and is a different breed from the cat in the story. Hibari's Sanhua is a standard calico, and her appearance is described in detail in the story.
