Tang Sui transmigrates into the body of the thirteen-year-old daughter of the Tang family in Peach Blossom Village, Wu County.
Her father, Tang, was left with a limp after falling ill as a child. Her mother was left weak and sickly after giving birth to her youngest child, and her three-year-old little brother is too young to know any better. The family has all the misfortunes of the old, the weak, the sick, and the pregnant, except for the old and the pregnant.
They live in a thatched hut on the most remote hillside in the whole village. Their home is bare, and they barely have enough to eat.
As Tang Sui eats millet porridge mixed with mostly greens and looks at her family, she realizes that as the only healthy person in the household, aside from being a little thin, she has no choice but to shoulder the burden of supporting them.
Fortunately, the thatched hut is poor, but its location is excellent: it sits at a crossroads halfway up Peach Blossom Mountain, whose slopes stretch on and on.
To the right is Yunyan Temple, thriving with worshippers; to the left is Heyang Academy, famous throughout Pingjiang Prefecture.
Such famous scenic spots are simply perfect places to do business.
Making the most of the location, Tang Sui, a modern private-dining restaurant owner, goes back to her old trade. She slings a little bamboo basket over her shoulder and starts selling food.
Osmanthus rice cakes, tangerine Longjing tea, flower pastries, and all sorts of other delicacies gradually make their way onto Tang Sui's menu. As she earns money to support her family, Peach Blossom Mountain slowly becomes a new destination for food-loving visitors.
