After being thrown out of recruitment booths for the ninety-ninth time because she can't use magic and is accused of faking her credentials,

Lin Xila finally finds a job at a booth with no other applicants, one that's willing to take her on.

She becomes the agent of the otherworldly deity, the demonic dragon Kanas Samuel.

In exchange, she has to help him recover the parts of his body scattered across the world.

And so Lin Xila begins a body-retrieval operation across the continent of Gram.

When Lin Xila first signs the contract, she has no idea what kind of indenture she's getting into.

She just thinks the job pays well, is easy, and gives her plenty of freedom.

Later on, thanks to her notorious boss, who's hated by everyone, she ends up killing people, stealing their treasures, and taking down gods. She does it all, for a reward nowhere near worth the effort.

The problem is, she realizes it too late. Her boss becomes her boyfriend.

So she's stuck working this exploitative job for good.

Male lead's perspective:

He figures doing laundry, cooking, and keeping house can't be any harder than fighting on the battlefield and handling government affairs.

Who knew he'd wash his clothes away in the river, burn his stir-fry, and then set fire to the thatched cottage he was living in?

And so,

when Chu Qing, the young woman next door who has recently lost her mother, suggests that she marry him and bring him into her family,

Shen Ji looks at the child, who's clearly lost several pounds, and the Jinlin Guards still lying in wait on the hill behind them, watching to make sure he has no ulterior motives.

He nods and agrees.

After they marry, Shen Ji's skills at doing laundry, cooking, and keeping house improve by leaps and bounds. Besides having a good teacher, he's also craving his wife's Dongpo pork.

What can he do? If he doesn't get the work right, he doesn't get to eat!
