Fu Xun died the night Shen Xiangxue ran him through the heart with her sword.
When he opened his eyes, he had been reborn to the time before he met Shen Xiangxue. The pain of having his heart pierced still lingered. He would make that heartless woman pay.
But he couldn't control his body. Trapped like an onlooker, he could only watch himself retrace the path he'd taken before.
He watched firsthand as Shen Xiangxue captivated him, as he came to want to put the whole world at her feet. Remembering how things had ended for him, Fu Xun found it both grating and ridiculous.
Idiot. You're laying your heart bare for her now, and one day she'll use the sword you gave her, and the swordsmanship you taught her, to take your life.
But that sword never came.
Instead, he saw Shen Xiangxue sharing tender, intimate moments with another version of him, entwined in his arms.
Fu Xun couldn't tell whether he felt jealousy or hatred.
At last, when he regained control of his body and grabbed Shen Xiangxue by the throat, the first words he choked out, trembling, were, "Why didn't you kill me?"
