A Vicious Cannon Fodder, but a Top-Tier Star Paranormal Detective

Su Mingyu was originally the male antagonist in a hot-blooded wuxia comic. By accident, he transmigrates into the body of a vicious cannon-fodder character in a male-male detective novel.

The original host was a medium who could see ghosts in the plates he ate from.

As the fake young master of a wealthy Hong Kong family, the original host was wicked through and through, a scheming green tea who used his golden finger to get the real young master haunted by evil spirits and sent tumbling from a building!

One day, Su Mingyu is filming on the set of a horror movie when the lead actor and actress are found dead. The way they died is exactly as described in the script...

They are found hanging from a beam, holding hands, eyes bulging, tongues lolling out, their faces twisted and livid like vengeful ghosts.

That evening, Su Mingyu is happily eating at home when he suddenly sees the female victim crying at him from the smooth surface of an empty blue-and-white porcelain plate.

"Su Mingyu, I died so horribly, and so unjustly..."

"My soul can only be trapped in this plate for seven days!" The woman sheds two streams of bloody tears and wails in anguish:

"The murderer who killed me must be hiding somewhere on the set. You have seven days to find them!"

The next moment, the woman's lips curl into a sinister smile.

"Otherwise, I'll take your life."

Senior Inspector Meng Ting'an of the police department's Major Crimes Unit rushes to the crime scene. When he sees Su Mingyu, his expression changes dramatically, and he turns to leave.

"Isn't that your ex? He's seriously hot, with an amazing body, tsk, tsk!" A supporting actor nearby brings up that explosive old gossip. "By the way, was that photo scandal from back then real?"

Su Mingyu looks confused. "Huh?"

"What, you forgot the affair that shocked all of Hong Kong? The one-night stand where you drugged Meng Ting'an!"

Su Mingyu: "?"

"You look like a delicate flower, but I never thought you'd be so bold. Not only did you do it with the most popular guy in the city, you even dared to take pictures of the two of you. They were censored, but still, they were pretty enviable..."

Su Mingyu's pupils dilate in shock.

Su Mingyu makes a triumphant comeback, going from an actor typecast as a vicious male supporting character to a hugely popular "celebrity detective" in the entertainment industry.

The senior inspector of the police department's Major Crimes Unit invites him to become a consulting detective. While pursuing his acting career in the entertainment industry, he helps the police solve all kinds of strange cases involving celebrities and wealthy families.

Several TV shows and movies modeled on him are even adapted for the big and small screens, drawing hordes of fans captivated by his personal charm, as well as plenty of haters who launch personal attacks against him.

Die-hard fan: "It's not like the fake young master chose to be born that way. Isn't it amazing that our frail but strong-willed boy worked hard and rose to become Hong Kong's top detective? I won't say who's jealous, haha!"

Hater: "How can a vicious, rotten-to-the-core social menace be a detective? The police department actually trusts his character enough to work with him? That's completely backwards. They should investigate him. Could he be involved in something they can't talk about?"

Shipper: "Waaah, damn it, I'm so obsessed with this pairing I'm losing my mind! At first the little detective is desperately begging for love, then his ex starts fighting tooth and nail to win him back. I'm a sucker for this stuff and I love it. This is top-tier romance, everyone come join me!"

One evening, Su Mingyu is in high spirits as he scrolls through the haters' nasty comments. He turns to his boyfriend beside him.

"They say I was desperately begging you for love at first, but that's all made up. Don't believe them..."

Before he can finish, Meng Ting'an pins him down on the bed, breathing fast and hot.

"I don't care."

Then he adds, "I'm the one desperately begging now."

Reading Guide:

1. A male-male suspense and detective story featuring transmigration into a book and a System, set in 1990s Hong Kong. The city is fictional, and the cases are original, though some are partially inspired by real historical cases.

2. The cases contain supernatural, horror, and ghost elements. The bottom has a golden finger that lets him communicate with a "plate spirit" and help the Major Crimes Unit solve cases. Though his golden finger is powerful, solving cases still requires logical deduction and piecing together clues. This is an addictive progression story, so jump right in!

3. A powerful couple in a melodramatic, satisfying story with plenty of sweet romance. The top realizes his feelings later and successfully wins his lover back after a long, hard pursuit. One-to-one romance, reunited after a breakup, happy ending.

4. These are my personal headcanons. The deduction and criminal-investigation elements are not entirely rigorous, and all the worldbuilding exists to serve the story! It's a supernatural detective story. Do we really have to follow the laws of modern physics? (Facepalm.jpg)
