Plans Change: Time to Win the Championship [Esports]

As everyone knows, QWG is a terrible team, usually hovering outside the league's top ten. Their lifelong dream is to make the playoffs someday.

Yes, the playoffs, not Worlds.

The only reason they made it from S2 to S10 was that the club owner had a dream and kept funding the team out of love.

Love might ease the pain, but it can't put food on the table.

Their record was so bad they couldn't get sponsors, which meant no investment.

After the S10 summer regular season ended, QWG once again missed the playoffs, finishing second to last.

That night, the owner, who had sold his house and car for the team and was just short of selling himself, smoked all night while looking over the team's record through the years. Then he made a decision: sell the team's LPL slot.

If we keep chasing this dream, we'll starve to death!!

The unserious pitch:

"The odds of a bunch of minnows crushing a galaxy battleship?"

A top laner with terminal romance brain + a jungler deep in their rebellious phase + a dumb bking mid laner + a hot-blooded idiot of a young man who switched from support to AD + a support who loves developing new champions and has a wild imagination + a coach who only fills in because the owner really can't afford to hire anyone, and is basically optional = ?

The owner, gritting his teeth and preparing to hold on for one more year, addresses the players through tears, choking up several times: "Let's play our best! If we can just make the playoffs, I can die with no regrets!"

Then...

"Let's play our best! If we can just make Worlds, I can die with no regrets!"

And then...

"Let's play our best! If we can just make the top sixteen, I can die with no regrets!"

And then again...

"Plans have changed. We're going for the championship!"
