I Returned from Faking My Death, and I'm Done Being a Guide

In the year 4019 of the Advent Era, a remarkable group of students graduated from Cromar Academy.

Su Jianluo, the acknowledged genius guide of the entire base, stood at the center of the graduation stage, basking in thunderous applause as everyone looked up to him.

Everyone assumed he had a bright future ahead of him, until tragic news spread through the base: an observation team that included the academy's outstanding graduates had nearly been wiped out in a distant polar ice field.

And so, in everyone's mind, Su Jianluo was dead.

But no one knew he was still alive.

Betrayed by his classmates of many years, he barely survived, at the cost of becoming a monster everyone loathed. Those who once flocked to him now regarded him as dirt beneath their feet.

Returning to the base under an assumed name, Su Jianluo swore to dig up every rotten truth, root and all.

If guides were born weaker than sentinels, and sentinels were always the ones charging to the front lines...

Then he would stop being a guide.

After awakening a second medium, he gradually became unstoppable. His strength earned him the respect of many powerful figures, and almost no one questioned his identity anymore, until the disfigured young man's face was restored

The entire base was in an uproar.

In everyone's eyes, the dead Su Jianluo had suddenly come back to life. But he was no longer the lovable, adorable angelic boy of the past. He had become a demon crawling out of purgatory, come to claim their lives.

From being adored by all, to being despised by all, to being feared by all, Su Jianluo was done competing with the world. So what if he became that demon?

He no longer needed anyone's affection. He only wanted to fulfill the duty that was his to carry out.

But the usually cold-blooded sentinel powerhouse, the Alliance's youngest major general, insisted on showing him affection, though it was the kind that gave you goosebumps.

Su Jianluo: "Everyone is afraid of me now."

The major general: "Everyone is afraid of me."

...Su Jianluo suddenly remembered all the embarrassing times he'd tried to run whenever he saw him. He panicked. "They all want to kill me. They want me dead!"

"So what?"

The major general's tone was cool, but nearly obsessive.

"No one will take you from me a second time."

Su Jianluo: ...

Fine. He supposed he could occasionally take on the duties of a guide.

Tips: 1. A lightly Cthulhu-inspired wasteland setting, with a nonstandard sentinel-guide setup and tons of original worldbuilding. It has fantasy and sci-fi elements. The author is a humanities student, so please don't take the setting too seriously.

2. Both leads are beautiful, strong, and tragic, and they dote on each other. One-on-one romance.

3. This isn't a power fantasy. Logic comes first, and bug reports are welcome.
