Becoming Dad in a Pixel RPG: Wuxia Crossover

* [My next planned story is The Fortune-Teller's Daily Life of Staying Alive. Check the author's page for the blurb!] * [Blurb] Player A injures his right leg in an accident and is bored out of his mind from the start of summer vacation. Online friend B sends him a download of a self-developed, pixel-art wuxia RPG called Descending: Souls of Heroes, and asks him to try it out. The game's main story can be summed up in one sentence: The path of ■■'s ■■. Online Friend B: The person you want to become determines the path you'll take. Player A: Got it. I'll name the protagonist "Dad." With nothing better to do, Player A starts using the game to kill time. It's a turn-based game, with save files and dialogue options. From the start, you're on a pitch-black island. Player A feels his way around in the dark, crawling everywhere, picks up a rock for a weapon, and explores as he smashes his way through enemies and levels up. Along the way, he collects a fair amount of gold and silver, completes side quests, and earns the "Enemy of the Bats" achievement. [After your arduous efforts, your strength has grown tremendously, and your wealth has increased greatly. You probably won't need to worry about money for a while. You've also dispelled the darkness shrouding Bat Island and spread the light of righteousness. Next, do your best to become the Dad of the entire martial world!] [Your actions have earned the hatred of a young gentleman. His hatred toward you has reached its peak!] Player A is fired up: Hah! How dare you hate Dad! You little ingrate! * Player A decides to grind this game while he's recovering. * Lately, an eccentric has appeared in the martial world. Cloaked and with his face obscured, he calls himself "Dad." His words and actions are bizarre, his martial arts uncanny, and all sorts of indescribable things happen around him. A senior constable from the Divine Constabulary sees with his own eyes as this man refuses to use the stairs, even though they're right there, and insists on jumping into a wall. (Player A: Wait, shouldn't I be able to jump up here?) A certain detective surnamed Lu accidentally sees him dog-paddling in the river, and catches a glimpse of a shapeless, jagged creature. (Player A: What the hell, I can't swim across this river? I'm running out of stamina!) The Ninth Young Master is visited in his bedroom at night by this man, who brazenly makes off with everything valuable. For the first time, he doesn't want someone to whip him. (Player A: ...I didn't expect this guy to be not just gloomy but a pervert too! Wait! Why is there an arrow telling me to grab the whip!? What am I supposed to do with it!?) * ◆Player A's review of Descending: Souls of Heroes: ● Fun, but it bugs out a little too often. ● There are a lot of weird characters. ● Why is there always a string of ellipses before the game characters say the protagonist's name? ◆The martial world's opinion of "Dad": ● Are you insane?! ● What the hell are you?! ● Stop randomly calling yourself people's dad!!!! [Reading Guide] * No romance and no relationship plot. * Goofy, irreverent tone. You don't need to know the original story to understand it. Player A knows nothing about the plot and is just here for fun. * A deranged, hard-boiled bandit of a protagonist who loves to complain. Player A is like a runaway truck, plowing through the entire martial world. * The golden finger is powerful, the timeline is a mess, and the game elements are all over the place. It's an entirely original setting on an absurdly huge scale. Please don't nitpick the details. * Contains subtle Lovecraftian elements. * Completed works: I Was Dragged Into a Game with My Account [Wuxia Crossover] I Built the World's Number One Sect with Secret Identities [Wuxia Crossover] The Most Handsome Guy in the Entire Martial World [Wuxia Crossover] If You're Sick, Take Some Medicine [Wuxia Crossover] The Master of Physical Persuasion [Wuxia Crossover] Theme: Wildfire never dies out; it rises again when the spring breeze blows
