I am a succubus. I was born to feed on love and trample sincere feelings.
But I cultivated the Path of Ruthlessness.
I especially love tragic tales. Fortunately, this mortal world is full of heartbreaking romances and partings for me to watch.
World One:
A playboy from an aristocratic family used his good looks to steal the hearts of young women, then casually cast them aside. I went to see what happened. The girl’s reputation was ruined, and she threw herself into a river, while the playboy continued his debauched life.
I didn’t like that ending.
How could one person’s sorrow make for a compelling tragedy? So I possessed the girl’s body, climbed out of the river, and became the playboy’s confidante. I made him utterly infatuated with me, then turned around and married someone else. He came to steal me away, and we fled to the riverbank where the girl had drowned. Our pursuers shot him dead.
He used his body to shield me from a rain of arrows, but I pushed him into the river.
I cultivate the Path of Ruthlessness. I only wanted him to keep the girl in the river company.
World Two:
The Crown Prince, who never smiled and was forever preaching propriety and morality, was the good heir in the eyes of the emperor and his ministers. But I saw it clearly: he detested the new younger sister his father had brought into the palace.
Because she wasn’t his sister at all. She was a bastard born to a lowly prostitute. To please the young prostitute, his father had allowed her daughter to muddy the royal bloodline.
I was that younger sister. I possessed a corpse because all I wanted was to sneak into the palace and eat a peach blossom pastry, but the Crown Prince wouldn’t let me. I called him Brother Crown Prince, and he said I wasn’t worthy. I played with a little eunuch who made delicious peach blossom pastries, and he said that I really was lowborn.
I fell for him.
He thought himself noble, so I turned him into a wretch. Later, he begged me again and again, promising to give me everything. But I cultivate the Path of Ruthlessness, so I refused to give him what he wanted.
World Three:
The transcendent immortal pitied all living things and cherished flowers and plants. He would weep at the sight of anything withering, and after slaying wicked demons, he would chant Buddhist hymns to guide their souls to peace.
I had seen him weep as he performed the rites, and the sight captivated me.
So I crushed countless sincere hearts and was brought before him as evidence of my crimes. He made me recite scriptures and cultivate myself, but I prayed for the end of the world to come.
When the apocalypse truly arrived, he wept for me alone.
World Four:
I heard there was a demon even more unconventional than me, so I went to meet him. As soon as he saw me, he raised his butcher’s knife and said, “Nothing to do today, so I’ll kill a succubus for fun.”
We fought to a draw.
Later, the immortal sects surrounded him, and he was on the verge of death. I went and pulled him out. He said, “I’ll give you a Demon Lord to play with.”
I don’t want one. I cultivate the Path of Ruthlessness.
Theme: I tell them that love matters.
