For the sake of a so-called conquest mission, Shen Jiang died four times.
In her first life, she chose Chu Lianxin, the senior disciple of Wenxin Sect. With his ethereal bearing and eyes that seemed to look down on the world, Chu Lianxin cultivated the Ruthless Dao. Though his name meant "cherishing the heart," he truly had no heart at all. Shen Jiang quietly stayed by his side for two hundred years, caring for him in every way. When the war between immortals and demons broke out, she fought the monsters and demons to the death to protect him while he was undergoing a trial, and died of exhaustion.
She died, while Chu Lianxin completed his trial, attained the Dao, and ascended. He never lowered his gaze to spare even the slightest glance for Shen Jiang, who had died fighting for him.
In her second life, Shen Jiang learned her lesson and stayed far away from Wenxin Sect. She chose Mu Wanjun, the amorous Sword Master of Xiaoyao Sect. Mu Wanjun cultivated the Amorous Dao and had a naturally tender, intoxicating pair of peach-blossom eyes. He lived with abandon and was arrogant and unruly. Shen Jiang was his fiancée, and he spoke gently to her, granting her every request and caring for her in every way. But she wasn't the only one. He had an innocent, lively junior sister, as well as confidantes who were gentle, dazzling, or pure. He liked them all, but he had said that he liked Shen Jiang best, and that she alone would be his wife.
But on their wedding day, Mu Wanjun's enemies came after them. His many confidantes held him up along the way, leaving Shen Jiang alone at the wedding banquet to be violated and killed by his enemies.
In her third life, Shen Jiang reflected hard on her past and decided that neither the Ruthless Dao nor the Amorous Dao was worth dealing with. She set her sights on an outer disciple of Penglai Immortal Sect. He had little talent but a handsome face, and was often bullied. Shen Jiang was the daughter of the sect leader, so she took him under her wing, dealt with those who bullied him, cleansed and strengthened his meridians, and carefully taught him Penglai's cultivation techniques. She never expected that this very disciple would abandon the Dao and turn to demonic cultivation, destroying all of Penglai with a sword. Shen Jiang, too, died by his blade.
After three consecutive failures, Shen Jiang was numb. Taking stock of her experience, she decided to target three people at once in her fourth life: the young Qilin heir of Buzhou Mountain, Ming Tai, the Buddhist son of Thousand Buddha Sect, and Jiuwei, lord of the demon realm. With three targets, surely one of them would work out, right? But she never expected that the young Qilin heir wanted her Pure Golden Core, the Buddhist son wanted to use her to overcome his worldly tribulation, and Jiuwei took their Penglai Divine Sword, Juque. Then he joined forces with the demons, wiped out Penglai, and used it as a base to launch a war between immortals and demons.
Shen Jiang: "..."
After falling into seven traps in a row, Shen Jiang was reborn once more and wanted only to kill everyone. But before she could do anything, all the men from her previous lives appeared before her, looking utterly mad, their eyes bloodshot and their voices choked with tears. As if they saw her as their salvation and faith, they asked if they could start over with her.
She wanted to kill them, and they actually handed her the knife themselves. Hahaha, of course she wouldn't hold back.
