[A plain, honest shou who can't express himself but has rock-solid emotional stability x a seemingly aloof gong who is actually petulant and childish for no reason]
Blurb:
When Chen Xi met Ye Jingyao at university, he was very dark-skinned.
After getting into a prestigious university, he made himself unpopular during military training by trying to strike up a conversation with Ye Jingyao. His classmates soon started looking down on him, too.
He isn't mute. He might as well be, because he stutters whenever he says too much.
Most of the time, he can only get two or three words out at once, like people have to beg him to speak. It's hard not to find that annoying.
His classmate in the same major, Ye Jingyao, is his polar opposite, with his fair skin and striking looks.
Even though he's distant, he never keeps up a relationship with anyone for more than three months.
He's from a wealthy family and has a face as handsome as jade, so countless people still try to get close to him and curry favor.
Unexpectedly, Chen Xi gets incredibly lucky and happens to save Ye Jingyao.
Even so, Ye Jingyao doesn't remember him.
Later, Chen Xi uses some unspeakable method to get into Ye Jingyao's bed.
Ye Jingyao never keeps anyone around for more than three months, but Chen Xi stubbornly stays by his side for a whole year.
After graduation, he relies on Ye Jingyao's protection, stays home to do the housework, and opens a cafe, never accomplishing anything else.
When asked why he keeps Chen Xi around, Ye Jingyao simply says that he's sensible.
Aside from being poor, he never asks for anything that doesn't belong to him.
Ye Jingyao is a notorious playboy, so no one takes their relationship seriously.
On the eve of their wedding, everyone waits to laugh at Chen Xi getting kicked out, but all they hear is that Ye Jingyao has told Chen Xi not to leave him.
The cold, proud Ye Jingyao cries and begs Chen Xi to say a few more words to him.
-
Over the year they spend together, Ye Jingyao tells Chen Xi to leave three times, then begs him to come back three times.
On the eve of their wedding, Ye Jingyao finally makes up his mind.
But this time, Chen Xi chooses to leave of his own accord, and he never plans to come back.
"I give you my heart, my soul
To no avail
For you already possess them
So
I bring you a mirror
Look at yourself
Remember me."
- Rumi, "A Gift to You"
Warnings:
1. This is old-school melodrama at its most outrageous, and the gong really is a playboy early on.
!!! [The shou is a virgin, the gong is not] !!! Please read this carefully. If it bothers you, don't read.
Both the gong and the shou go through heartbreak. I don't think it quite counts as a groveling arc. Things are fairly sweet while they're together in the middle (or so I think qaq).
2. The first part of the blurb is from an outsider's perspective, not the gong or shou's. The story will explain their motives.
The shou's profession isn't what the blurb suggests. He only gets away after taking his revenge on the gong. The tags say both are strong.
3. The old-fashioned style is very obvious. I suddenly couldn't stop myself from wanting to write this kind of story.
If you don't like it, please just click away. Thank you (kneels and bows).
