From Eel to Eel

Xiao Shan is an eel spirit. With her mating season approaching, she seduces a handsome scholar, and the two share a brief fling.

Before long, Xiao Shan realizes she is pregnant, so she fakes her death to escape and makes a clean getaway.

A few months later, Xiao Shan gives birth safely. She changes from female to male, completing the sex change every eel must undergo.

Five years later, Xiao Shan disguises himself as a woman and marries into a powerful family.

At the wedding banquet, Xiao Shan accompanies the groom in making the rounds to toast the guests. To his surprise, the first man they toast is the very one he once seduced and abandoned.

The frail scholar of the past has transformed into a powerful warlord with immense influence.

Dongfang Jianbai gazes at him intently. "You look a lot like my late wife."

Xiao Shan: "..."

Is it polite to say that to someone else's bride?

Tips:

1. Female-to-male transformation, human-demon romance, and a pregnant runaway.

2. The story opens with a reunion, with a few flashbacks woven in.

3. Eels are not hermaphrodites. They are female from the juvenile stage to adulthood, but after laying eggs once, their ovaries turn into testes. They change from female to male and never lay eggs again. This phenomenon is called "sex reversal." [Source: Baidu Encyclopedia]
