As the saying goes, if you do too many evil deeds, Heaven will strike you down.
Especially someone like a certain Demon Sect leader who'd rather not be named...
A pillar of the unorthodox world, well versed in the art of complaining about the martial world and wasting away in your own head, when you should be throwing a punch and turning the jianghu upside down.
He ought to be charred to a crisp by a bolt of lightning. Even Jiang Qin, the little disciple next door, is drooling with envy!
But apparently this world's Heavenly Way is pretty useless. Liu Yunfei, said to be utterly evil, plagued by misfortune, and hideous as a demon, is in perfect health and has everything going his way. He hasn't been struck by five bolts from the heavens, nor has thunder come crashing up from the ground beneath his feet.
Liu Yunfei: Evil people live for a thousand years. Ever heard of that?
Liu Yunfei: Wait! What do you mean, hideous as a demon? I'm handsome, dashing, suave, elegant, and the most gorgeous man around. Which gossip rag wrote that? Don't be so cruel!
Still, even if Heaven doesn't strike him with five bolts of lightning, retribution comes sooner or later.
For instance, he passes by and picks up a useless sect that attracts nothing but enemies. Then he passes by and picks up an annoying disciple who loves to shriek. Finally, he passes by and picks up a big yellow dog.
Then one day, Liu Yunfei fishes a man out of the water. He's covered in wounds and ready to die, having rolled into the lake to feed the fish. That's when things start getting strange...
He turns the man over. The fellow's shoulder blades are enough to tell that he's handsome, and his face does justice to his breathtaking looks.
Even a lecher has a day when seeing a handsome man leaves him speechless.
"***! Why does it have to be you?!"
The former martial arts alliance leader, He Chengyu, looks completely bewildered.
"Who are you? Who am I? Where am I?"
Women, right.
The Demon Sect leader thinks: The good news is that he's lost his memory, so I don't have to keep fighting him in earth-shattering, get-wounded-on-the-spot, challenge-him-again-next-round battles. The bad news is that he's lost his memory, so I can't cop a feel anymore.
But...
How did life get more and more ridiculous?!
Amnesiac, devoted, and secretly ruthless He
Split-personality, goofy, and aloof Liu
*Warnings:
1. Strong leads who switch. Their roles aren't very distinct, so choose for yourselves. As long as you don't bother anyone, ship them however you like. (I'll never tell you that I just can't picture either of them taking the bottom role.)
(P.S. Sect Leader Liu has a bit of a split personality. He acts aloof on the outside but is a goofball inside. When he switches to first person, he's ridiculously silly. That's normal, not a plot hole.)
2. It's called a wuxia story, but it actually has a mix of mystery-solving, fight scenes, and everyday life, with a 3/2/5 split. It's a comedic slice-of-life story.
3. The romance is a slow burn, and the main storyline doesn't show up until Chapter 7. It's more about building a career and falling in love (?).
4. This is a fictional setting in ancient times, but you might see things from the Han dynasty mixed together with things from the Tang and Qing dynasties.
5. I'll add more when I think of it.
Ladies and gentlemen, don't hold back on the comments! Throw them at the author as hard as you can. They're my biggest motivation to keep updating! (Rose clutched in a dog's mouth)
