Behind him, the immortal venerable lifts his eyes to meet his gaze and says in his usual tone, “Give me your immortal bones.”
Only then does Yu Wenzhang understand that the immortal venerable's tenderness toward him was merely meant to make him willingly surrender his immortal bones, so they could be given to the venerable's Dao companion.
After hearing this, Yu Wenzhang calmly takes out his immortal bones and says, “I don't owe you anything anymore.”
Then, in front of everyone, he leaps from a cliff with no chance of survival and cuts all ties with the immortal sect.
When Yu Wenzhang wakes again, he finally remembers that he is a transmigrator from the future.
The System speaks in his mind: “They've bullied and humiliated you. It's time to show them your anger.”

1. The immortal venerable is not the love interest. The protagonist only has fledgling-bird attachment and gratitude toward him; he never falls in love with him.
2. The love interest appears later. He's the protagonist's partner in nation-building.
