My Childhood Friend Is a Dark, Scheming Type

Xia Qingci is a straight man who firmly believes he'll stay single until he dies.

He has a hobby: setting his childhood friend Lu Fangheng up with people. Unfortunately, he's never succeeded.

One day, Lu Fangheng hands him a contract and asks for his help. "Qingqing, come on this dating show with me!"

His childhood friend looks at him expectantly. "I want to find someone on the show. I need you to help set me up."

Xia Qingci doesn't refuse.

He thinks his childhood friend has been single for so many years because he's been infected by Xia Qingci's hopelessly single energy.

So it's his duty and responsibility to help Lu Fangheng out.

He signs without hesitation.

But playing matchmaker for his childhood friend on a dating show isn't easy.

Though Lu Fangheng is handsome, wealthy, and talented, not one person sends him a heart-fluttering text.

Lu Fangheng keeps coming to Xia Qingci for comfort at night.

After it happens so many times, Xia Qingci starts worrying. He can't let his childhood friend stay single on the show, too. On a whim, he decides to send Lu Fangheng a heart-fluttering text himself.

After that, things spiral out of control, like a horse that's broken free of its reins.

When no one goes on a date with Lu Fangheng, Xia Qingci does.

When no one prepares a gift for Lu Fangheng, Xia Qingci does.

When no one sends Lu Fangheng a love letter, Xia Qingci does.

As filming goes on, Xia Qingci realizes something is wrong.

Why are all the ways he meant to use to set Lu Fangheng up being used on him instead?

It dawns on him: has his childhood friend been playing him all along?
