[Fake teenage genius x real thousand-year-old ghost]
Xie Lin has always been a legend among exorcists.
A humanoid weapon whose combat strength has remained in a league of its own for years, he's mysterious and low-key. He kills gods when he meets them and ghosts when he encounters them, and has never failed a mission.
Back then, Xie Lin was still just a teenager.
So when the department underwent a mandatory restructuring, he was forcibly struck from the roster and sent to receive compulsory education.

Several years later, supernatural phenomena swept across the globe, and some humans awakened special abilities. To curb crimes committed by ghosts and people with special abilities, Huaxia established the Bureau of Anomalous Investigations.
The bureau chief couldn't stop worrying and invited Xie Lin to join again and again.
Xie Lin: "...That wouldn't be a good idea. I don't have any special abilities. I'm just an ordinary person."
The bureau chief: "You can fool other people, but don't try to fool your buddies."
Xie Lin hesitated. "But I still have to go to school."
The bureau chief, dead-eyed: "I'll do your math homework for you."
Xie Lin, decisive: "Deal."

Group A of the Bureau of Anomalous Investigations has a "high school student" who got in through connections.
At first, everyone despised this sort of nepotism. But the boy was quiet, easy on the eyes, and polite. He never held the team back, and was like a well-behaved kitten curled up on the sofa.
Group A members: He's pretty likable, actually. We can treat him like a lucky mascot.
That was until a mission led them into a den of tigers, surrounded by ghostly fog and teetering on the brink of life and death.
Light swirled in Xie Lin's golden eyes, his black hair flying.
Standing before the monsters, he held a Tang sword wrapped in talisman papers and coolly said to the people beside him:
"Stand behind me."
The clueless members of Group A: "..."
#The lucky mascot is actually a potential powerhouse#
#I'll punish myself with three drinks for being reckless and blind before#
The bottomless powerhouse who longs to retire and has been running on power-saving mode for years, the pursued x the thousand-year-old ghost who is still hopelessly in love at first sight, the pursuer
