Ever since a chance encounter at the national training camp for a math competition seven years ago, Song Zhiyan has seen Shen Rujiao as her guiding light.

But Song doesn't know that whenever Shen Rujiao dreams in the dead of night, the first image in her mind is Song's smiling face.

A new record has been set at South China University: its youngest-ever specially appointed associate professor, Jiang Yule, a graduate of the university's 2013 undergraduate class, has joined the School of Mathematics.

Rumors abound. Some say she's the principal's daughter; others say she has an unusually close relationship with Vice Dean Lin Siqiong.

Only Jiang Yule knows the truth. She is indeed close to a vice dean, but not Lin Siqiong. She's close to Lin's archenemy, Dean Su Yubai.

On Jiang Yule's first day at work, Dean Lin wants to rekindle their old relationship. She prepares a gift but can't find Jiang Yule.

No one knows that in the academic vice dean's office nearby, Dean Su is gently biting Jiang Yule's earlobe, warning her in a husky voice: "Don't say yes to her."
