Marry a Chef and Make a Living

Tian Ermiao is a farm girl, but she's the laziest and most scheming member of her family. Her thinking went crooked from a young age, and all she wanted was to do nothing and still have plenty to eat and drink.

The Tian family is a big one, with more than a dozen people working the fields to make ends meet. Life is tight, and they can only afford meat once a month.

So she set her sights on Lu Ping'an, the man next door who had just returned from elsewhere after learning to cook.

He was fair and clean-cut, and a talented cook. The food he made could only be described as delicious.

Tian Ermiao ate wild vegetable cakes, leaning against the wall as the tempting aroma from next door made her meal more appetizing. She made up her mind. A man like him was hard to find even with a lantern, so how could she let such a good thing go to someone else?

As she saw it, a woman married a man for clothes and food.

If you work hard enough, you can grind an iron rod into a needle.

Lu Ping'an had been troubled lately. Every day, without fail, Tian Ermiao cornered him and said she wanted to marry him.

Lu Ping'an: He would never marry a lazy woman like Tian Ermiao.

But the face-slapping came fast. When Tian Ermiao set her sights on the village butcher, Lu Ping'an hurriedly grabbed her hand and gritted his teeth. "Don't you know that if you like someone, you have to stick with them from beginning to end?"
