Everyone says that the Venerable Ji Lian is cold and loveless, and that his Sui Xing Sword has slain countless demons.
Until one day, in a border town overrun by demons, they see a grubby child crying as he blows an eagle whistle, awakening another filthy puppet.
The child cries out to him, "Great-grandfather!"
The demon puppet is battered and broken, his armor covered in rust. Holding a broken sword in his left hand, he first slays the monsters, then destroys the sects. His whole body radiates murderous fury, and blood trickles from his sword tip.
Unable to contend with his overwhelming strength, everyone summons the Venerable to exterminate the evil. But when the demon puppet sees who has arrived, the icy chill around him vanishes in an instant, and he smiles as he says, "You've come back."
At those words, the hand holding Venerable Ji Lian's sword trembles slightly.
He can no longer hold his sword, nor can he slay demons.
Note:
1. The protagonist is the gong. He is human in the early part and a puppet later on.
2. No childbearing! The child is not related by blood, and no one is raising a kid!
3. The gong is a battered little ray of sunshine and a good guy from beginning to end. The shou is a beautiful, cold person with immense strength.
4. They fall for each other. The gong falls first and has a long-lasting crush. The shou has feelings too, but doesn't understand what love is.
5. A sweet-and-angsty story, but no love rivals. A cheerful puppy's secret crush, followed by a domineering immortal lord fiercely protecting his husband (?).
Battered little ray-of-sunshine demon puppet gong (Cheng Lichuan) x powerful, aloof beauty shou (Ji Lian)
