Ning Wenzhen spent over a decade as Youdu’s “impostor” young lord. Then one day, he found the real young lord who had been living outside the city. Wash the dirt off that stray puppy, and he’s as good as new.
The real young lord grew up day by day. Then one day, the past came back to haunt them, and their grievances came to light. The adoration in his eyes changed into an irreconcilable hatred.
And so the obedient little puppy became a vicious wolf.
Shen Yangge, consumed by hatred, said, “I’m going to kill you.”
Ning Wenzhen held out a sword. “Here.”
Shen Yangge said, “I’m going to make you suffer for the rest of your life.”
He replied, “All right.”
Shen Yangge snarled, “I want you to hate me forever!”
But he fell silent.
Only after they crossed swords and swore, “We owe each other nothing, and we’ll never meet again,” did Ning Wenzhen realize he couldn’t simply roam the world freely, surrounded by friends and family. There were hidden truths behind it all.
He turned back and set out once more across the endless desert. Only then, in the intervals between cycles of rebirth, did he catch a glimpse of that person’s “love.”
Shen Yangge told him many lies. Only his final wish was true.
He said, “Hate me, the way I love you.”
But he was too late. Ning Wenzhen stood in the heart of an empty city, looking at the person he had come to find, whose gaze was now a stranger’s.
From far away, that person asked, “Who are you?”
*
Shen Yangge had a secret.
For every time he told Ning Wenzhen he hated him, there was just as much love.
But if he never said it, no one would know.
A long time later, he forgot, too
That it had once been his love and hatred, his blood and bones.
The thing he had spent his entire life chasing, only to find it forever beyond his reach.
Pairing: A seemingly unhinged but actually devoted top × a seemingly kind but actually most vile villain bottom
Note:
1. Bottom’s POV, mutual pining, with a later “chasing his husband to the crematorium” arc. If that’s not your thing, don’t read, and please don’t complain!
2. Don’t insult the main characters, or the author will be heartbroken. Don’t insult the author either, or they’ll secretly cry under the covers T^T
Theme: Talk things out, and learn to understand love.
