The Miko and the Demon King

A shamaness and a ghost king general

Zhuyue is the most renowned painter in Nanyue, with the power to bring the dead back to life. By order of the Imperial Preceptor, Zhuyue receives a portrait from a former dynasty. All she has to do is revive the person in the painting.

The man in the portrait is named Su Jingming. He wears armor, with handsome, refined features, and an easy, carefree air.

Zhuyue doesn't know why he needs to be brought back to life. But, unexpectedly, even with her power, she can't revive him right away. So she puts the portrait away in her room.

One day, while bathing, Zhuyue realizes she forgot to bring her undergarments. When she turns around, she sees a tall figure standing behind the painted screen.

Zhuyue recognizes him as Su Jingming, the man in the painting. She doesn't know when she managed to bring him back to life, but now the newly revived Su Jingming...

is holding Zhuyue's undergarments.

Zhuyue: "Were you watching me bathe?"

Su Jingming: "I wasn't..."

Zhuyue: "Liar. Your ears are bright red."

★★★

Later, Zhuyue is presented as a bride to an enemy kingdom by the ruler of Nanzhao. As she travels through a sea of yellow sand, clouds roll in, the sand swirls, and a lone wild goose wheels through the sky.

The instant the dust-filled wind lifts her bridal veil, the eyes of a young man in green reflect Zhuyue's face.

Su Jingming removes the fang-covered mask of the blue-faced demon. Behind him, thousands of ghosts hold ghost lanterns, their faint light spreading around them.

Standing before the ghostly flames, the young man says to Zhuyue, "Will you come with me? The ghost realm is a little cold, but I'm naturally gifted with pure fire, so you can..."

"You can hold me to keep warm."

"I meant to buy osmanthus blossoms and carry wine along, but in the end, it was nothing like a young man's carefree travels."

How did the most dazzling young man in Jinling City end up becoming the Ghost King of Fengdu?

And the girl he loves is a shamaness who controls life and death.
