Where Is the S-Class Guide?

[BG, female lead and male sentinel, fiery female demon x gentle male doctor]

1. Cheng Lang is an S-rank sentinel whose spirit animal is a gigantic lion's mane jellyfish. She leads a mercenary group operating in the underworld and is known as the "Thousand-Armed Witch."

But for a few days every month, the great witch Cheng becomes restless and irritable, always on the verge of losing control. She has never been able to find a guide with a high enough compatibility rating.

One day, after finishing a job, Cheng Lang found an injured man: pale, slender, handsome, and delicate, the sort of person who made you want to protect him.

Though he was a low-ranking guide, with a spirit animal as tiny as a sparrow, Cheng Lang was blinded by his looks and kept him at her side. He was a pleasure to look at in her spare time, and fun to play with when she had nothing to do. Somehow, that helped ease her irritability.

2. Another day, someone offered a huge bounty for Cheng Lang's life, and countless killers swarmed after her like hyenas.

Cheng Lang fought her way out with Fu Ming, carving a path through the bloodshed before hiding in an abandoned house.

The television was broadcasting the news: "Criminals have been running rampant recently, causing widespread trouble and putting a great strain on public safety. But the public need not worry. The Federation's once-in-a-generation God-level guide is carrying out a secret mission. We believe the criminals will soon be brought to justice, restoring peace to society..."

Wounded and on edge, Cheng Lang scoffed, "Where's this God-level guide? Hurry up and come rescue me."

As soon as she finished speaking, Fu Ming's little bird appeared in the air. It grew larger with every passing moment, and before Cheng Lang's astonished eyes, spread enormous wings that blocked out the sunlight beyond the window.

The man's usually gentle, harmless gaze now resembled an endless net, enveloping her completely. "Are you sure?"

Cheng Lang forced herself to say, "Of course. The bigger, the better."

Fu Ming advanced toward her step by step. "Then don't think you can run away again."

Cheng Lang smiled nonchalantly. "Let's see you try."

3. Several years later, a reporter interviewed the Federation's only perfectly matched S-rank couple: "What would the two of you like to share with young people about love and marriage?"

Cheng Lang: "Sure. Ladies, be careful of handsome men using their charms. You never see it coming."

Fu Ming: "Do you regret it?"

Cheng Lang: "Yes. I regret falling for it so late. I missed out on a few years of fun."

Fu Ming: "..."

Lion's mane jellyfish: One of the largest and most dangerous marine creatures in the world. It is beautiful in appearance and fierce in temperament.

It gets its name from its thick mass of orange tentacles, which resemble a lion's mane. It can release deadly venom, and its longest tentacles exceed 30 meters, about the length of a blue whale.
