A prospective heir raised as the family's successor bravely pursues the fake heiress, Qiao Fei.
A true heiress who takes life as it comes, wants no quarrels with the world, and loves nothing more than brewing tea in spring, Mo Feng.
A sensational piece of news recently rocked the Qiao family, Jiangcheng's wealthiest: their only daughter, the heir they'd spent more than twenty years raising, was actually a fake heiress who'd been switched at birth. The real heiress had just been found.
While everyone craned their necks to watch this explosive family drama and waited to see which heiress would inherit the Qiao family, the household remained remarkably calm.
Qiao Fei had received the finest elite education since childhood. She was a standout among her generation and the heir the head of the Qiao family was most proud of. But just before she was to inherit the family business, the real heiress suddenly appeared. The tide turned overnight, and everyone watched, waiting for her to become a laughingstock. But all she could see was the true heiress standing quietly with her eyes lowered in the middle of the crowd: Mo Feng.
Amid the noise, Mo Feng seemed to inhabit a world of her own, aloof and apart. As if sensing Qiao Fei's gaze, she looked over. In that instant, Qiao Fei felt as if she were standing beneath a sky full of snow.
The snowstorm came without warning, but Qiao Fei had no desire to fight it. She only wanted to drown in it.
Blurb two:
Mo Feng returned to the Qiao family without changing her name, without taking over the business, and without asking for anything. Though she was at the center of the storm, she stayed out of it, living like an immortal in her own courtyard.
On her very first day, she made things clear to the heiress the Qiao family had painstakingly raised for over twenty years: they would stay out of each other's way. She had no interest whatsoever in inheriting the company. She'd returned only to repay the debt of life to the Qiao parents.
She thought they wouldn't have anything to do with each other after that. But to her surprise, Miss Qiao kept wandering around outside her courtyard every day, her desire to come in and sit a while written all over her face.
Mo Feng helplessly opened the courtyard gate.
"Miss Qiao, would you like to come in for a cup of tea?"
She never expected that opening the gate would be like letting a wolf into the house.
Bonus scene:
At a banquet, Qiao Fei took a glass of spiked wine, smiled coolly, and dragged the person who'd tampered with it outside for a beating. But after waiting for the banquet to end, she downed the drink herself, then staggered to Mo Feng's door and knocked.
With flushed cheeks and sweat glistening on her skin, Qiao Fei collapsed into Mo Feng's arms. "Help me…"
Mo Feng helped her inside and put on a recording of the Pure Land Sutra. "The doctor will be here soon."
Qiao Fei: "…"
She fought and failed, failed and fought again. Qiao Fei refused to believe she couldn't win over Mo Feng, that unattainable beauty. But the longer she tried, the more she realized how hard it was. She was starting to think about giving up.
The day after giving up on Mo Feng, Qiao Fei drank herself into a stupor and, yet again, shamefully ended up at Mo Feng's door. The door opened once more. In her daze, she heard a soft sigh, and the next moment, she was pulled into someone's arms.
Only then did Qiao Fei realize that someone who seemed so cold could be so warm to hold.
Reading guide:
1. The story takes place in an entirely fictional setting, with plenty of original worldbuilding.
2. Same-sex marriage is not legal in this setting.
3. The true heiress genuinely takes life as it comes.
Sending a heart~ I'll add anything else that comes to mind.
Theme: Get along peacefully, for harmony is precious.
