[Blurb]
Xiao Yi became an orphan overnight and set out on the road north to Chang'an.
The glorious Tang dynasty enjoyed peace throughout the land, with magnificent mountains and rivers. To put down roots in the capital, Xiao Yi bought a house and a carriage, then opened a restaurant. Innovation (that is, gluttony) was her only pursuit. There was no dish a food blogger couldn't tinker with:
In bustling old lanes, amid the ordinary warmth of life, how about a cup of rough wine and some grilled fish?
In the steamy heat, as everything grows at a furious pace and life runs hot, how about some liangpi?
With autumn winds rising and osmanthus blossoms in the sky, their rich fragrance drifting through the air, how about some milk tea?
Her restaurant had become a famous Chang'an check-in spot? It looked like becoming a rich woman was only a matter of time.
Xiao Yi: Blind dates, breakups, partings in life, and farewells in death? Why is this starting to feel more and more like a late-night diner?
The answer: Gathered together, it's the warmth of everyday life; spread out, it's the human world.
Well, in plain language, it's Xiao Yi's chaotic daily life as an entrepreneur in the Tang dynasty.
Notes for readers:
1. This is a light, slice-of-life story with a slow pace. There are very few truly evil characters, and not much scheming or fighting.
2. There is a male lead and a romance plot.
3. The recipes are based on things found online, and the author hasn't tried them all.
4. This is an alternate-history Tang dynasty.

Can You Stop Appearing in My Dreams?
Yao Yan was jolted awake by the same dream three nights in a row. She lay awake until dawn, muttering weakly to herself:
[Hey, can you get them to stop appearing in my dreams? I want to sleep.]
A timid voice in her head answered coldly:
[No. As long as I'm here, they can find you.]
[Then can you leave?]
[No. Your brain and I are symbiotic. If I leave, you...]
Help! If only she'd known, she wouldn't have gone with her friend to that exhibition about a famous detective from the last century. Now she had to share her brain with someone else. Yao Yan burst into tears. According to the unidentified creature in her head, the dead appeared in people's dreams because they held grudges. If those grudges weren't resolved, they'd keep appearing in her dreams...
Listen to that. Does that sound like something a person would say? Then again, those things weren't people anymore.
At the police station
Yao Yan: Officer, I have a lead on Zhang Yan's disappearance.
Police officer: What? Tell me.
Yao Yan: Her lover killed her, and then... [a detailed account of the crime]
The officer's gaze sharpened: How do you know that?
Yao Yan came clean: Zhang Yan appeared in my dream.
Police officer: !!! You aren't taking me for an idiot, are you?
Yao Yan: It's true, Officer. Look at my dark circles. It's been three days!! She keeps appearing in my dreams and won't let me sleep.
Police officer: Where did this lunatic come from?!
Yao Yan's repeated bizarre antics left even the police, who firmly believed in Marxism-Leninism, dazed. Could ghosts really appear in people's dreams...? But events soon spiraled further and further beyond her expectations. The dreams involved a huge conspiracy.
Thesis: Food can bring warmth to the whole world
