Searching for Stars in the Dark

He Lingzhou rose from an ordinary miner to become the leader who unified Linyuan. After a lifetime of ups and downs, he was used to watching the winds shift and clouds gather. He was surrounded by mentors and close friends, and was confident that life was going his way.

His one regret was that his handsome face had gone to waste. He'd been single for decades and still hadn't met his true love.

Then, by chance, he ran into the woman destined to be his wife in the Suxing mining district.

She was beautiful, delicate, and had lost her memory. He Lingzhou quickly took her home, where he got slapped affectionately by his wife every day.

But fate had other plans. The Suxing mining district was invaded by the insect race, and its soldiers and civilians were subjected to savage attacks and brutal massacres. Everyone rose up to fight back. Amid the chaotic battles, He Lingzhou gradually noticed that his wife wasn't slapping him as much.

Just when he thought he was finally going to enjoy a happy life, his wife died in the war.

There is one taboo among the upper echelons of Linyuan: under no circumstances may anyone mention the name
