How could anyone not like soccer?
If Bai Sha asked that, people would probably assume she was about to talk at length about soccer's passion and describe its dazzling techniques and footwork.
But no.
Bai Sha would show off the data model she'd recently built, delighting in the curves that concealed the secrets of victory.
"Look, the secrets to winning at soccer are all hidden in these numbers."
Everyone on the coaching staff at the Shanzhongke Club was waiting for a "secret weapon":
a data analyst the club owner had gone to great lengths to bring back from overseas.
They said she could help the team win with the most precise data models. It was the most advanced soccer science.
Before meeting Bai Sha, the coaching staff didn't believe it. "Can data predict which foot a player will move first?"
After meeting Bai Sha, they believed it even less. "Her?"
Three months ago, Qiu Ling, hailed as a superstar of domestic soccer, joined Shanzhongke for a transfer fee of two million euros.
Three months later, the more the fans had looked forward to Qiu Ling's performance, the more disappointed they were. What the hell, give us our money back!
Qiu Ling didn't know what was wrong with him either. It was as if he'd suddenly forgotten how to play soccer overnight.
Until Bai Sha coolly built a data model for him, argued with the coaching staff on his behalf, demanded an offensive strategy built around him, and demanded...
Qiu Ling could hardly believe it. Didn't Bai Sha hate him? Though he had no idea why.
Bai Sha: Because you support the Reds and I support the Red Devils. We're natural enemies.
Qiu Ling suddenly understood.
He earnestly replied: But we both support Shanzhongke. We're family, sweetheart~
Bai Sha: ...Who wants to be family with you? Get lost!
Note:
1. I'll try to make the soccer parts easy to understand, so even friends who don't know soccer can follow along.
2. Neither the heroine nor the coaching staff is entirely right, but both sides mean well and want the club to improve. They'll both grow over time. (You can think of the heroine as representing new-school soccer, the coaching staff as representing old-school soccer, and the male lead as the one who bridges the gap.)
3. The soccer world in this story is fictionalized from reality. Certain scenes absolutely aren't meant to reflect real life. Any resemblance is purely coincidental.
