Dermatology Stories

Dermatology junior x infectious disease senior

Sang Xia is a dermatologist.

Not only do people online think her job is clean and respectable, even her old classmates think Sang Xia has fewer doctor-patient conflicts and a higher income.

Sang Xia can only say that dermatology's full name is the Department of Dermatology and Venereology.

Back in school, Sang Xia was the most competitive of the lot, and eventually worked her way into the dermatology department of a top-tier Class A hospital.

After working 200 day emergency shifts and 200 night emergency shifts, then spending half a year as the senior resident, and enduring countless days working by day and doing research by night, Sang Xia was finally promoted to attending physician.

Sang Xia's hair is nearly falling out. She wants to set the record straight online: Who says dermatology has no emergency cases?

People can die in dermatology, too.

During those days in the emergency department, Sang Xia saved many people, but there were also patients she could do nothing for.

Sang Xia says: One time, we treated an elderly patient with a severe drug-induced rash. We tried for a long time, but he still sadly passed away. Even so, his family gave us a banner of appreciation, because they also felt that our work was difficult.
