Because of a longstanding friendship between their families, Ji Wei stays with the prestigious Xie family in Nancheng during high school. She is worlds apart from them and feels completely out of place, but Madam Xie and the eldest daughter treat her very well.

Only the Xie family’s young head, Xie Huaize, regards her coldly, suspecting that she has ulterior motives.

Ji Wei is grateful and tries her best to repay their kindness. She cheers up Madam Xie, studies with Miss Xie, and takes the initiative to mend things with Xie Huaize. Unfortunately, a few misunderstandings only make him more convinced that she is trying to ingratiate herself with the family.

Madam Xie tells Ji Wei not to be so formal and that she can just call Xie Huaize “Brother.” As if she would dare.

Later, Ji Wei drinks with Miss Xie. Once drunk, she gets bold and tentatively calls him that just once.

The word “Brother” earns her a slight furrow of his brows. He fixes her with a deep, inscrutable gaze and lightly taps her forehead with his slender fingers.

Ji Wei knows that, in Xie Huaize’s eyes, she is a scheming little white flower with impure motives, trying to climb the social ladder. So she keeps her distance and never dares to act out in front of him.

Before the start of her junior year, Miss Xie, Xie Ning, throws a party at home. Everyone lets loose and drinks themselves silly.

That night, Xie Ning plans to confess to the top student.

At Xie Ning’s pleading, Ji Wei reluctantly agrees to keep Xie Huaize from interrupting.

With Xie Huaize about to stumble upon the confession, Ji Wei panics. To stop him and save her best friend’s life, she blurts out a passionate confession to Xie Huaize.

She expects him to turn away in disgust, but instead he falls silent for a moment, grabs her wrist, and leads her up to the third floor...

In the dim room, Xie Huaize backs her up against the bed, his gaze dark. “Are you sure?”

Ji Wei is already terrified, but she doesn’t dare take it back. “I-I’m sure.”

The man before her is intensely imposing. Ji Wei is flustered and uneasy, and just as she is about to break and tell the truth, Xie Huaize lowers his head and kisses her...

They go along with the mistake, and from then on, there is no turning back.
