My new novel is out. Check my author profile: After Being Picked Up by a Hong Kong Tycoon (1990s)
[Before You Start: This is a silly, no-brainpower-required story.]
Xu Beiduo had finally managed to buy a house. Before she could move in, she transmigrated into a melodramatic period novel and became a cannon-fodder villainess.
The original owner's family was well-off, but her parents had both died. A poor young man harassed her relentlessly until she married him.
Later, the original owner sold everything she had to fund the male lead's career, only to be left with nothing. She became his resentful first wife and died destitute, while he and the heroine lived happily ever after.
Xu Beiduo gritted her teeth in fury. Wouldn't that money have been better spent buying a house?
It's the 1990s!
The real estate boom hasn't even taken off yet, and there are houses and land everywhere...
Heaven knows how hard it was for her to buy a house!
Xu Beiduo began building her capital from scratch:
First, she rented out the old family home, then kept buying houses and land.
Money begat houses and land, and houses and land begat money... Tsk, an endless cycle.
She was going to be a wealthy landlady. Scumbag men, stay away from this rich lady!
At first, the villagers surrounded her, introducing her to men. They all wanted a rich wife for the poor boys in their families.
Later, even her colleagues in the county town often tried to persuade her:
"Duoduo, if you meet a good man, hurry up and marry him."
"What's a girl doing with so much money? Marrying well is what really matters."
"Why would a girl buy a house? How will you get married with a mortgage hanging over you?"
Xu Beiduo rejected them all and kept buying houses, weeping bitterly:
"I'm drowning in debt! What good man would be willing to help me pay off my mortgage?"
Later, Xu Beiduo not only owned lots of houses, but every kind of house imaginable.
Western-style houses, mid-rise apartments, spacious flats, townhouses, courtyard homes, office buildings, retail units...

There are two skyscrapers in a city's CBD. One belongs to me, and the other one does, too.

Upcoming story blurb:
After transmigrating into a book for over a month, Gu Jinzhao finally learned who she was.
She had transmigrated into a biography about the life of a tycoon who ruled Hong Kong.
Good news: Her name was mentioned on the very first page.
Bad news: She was already dead on that first page.
This is Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong in 1990, and Gu Jinzhao has two years left before she's killed.
In the book, Gu Jinzhao dies in a murder case at the end of 1992. The biography's protagonist was once involved in the case and arrested a few people, but it was never solved. It remains a cold case.
On New Year's Day in 1990, Gu Jinzhao appeared on Lung Chun Road in Kowloon Walled City, wearing thin, tattered clothes and flip-flops, with nothing to her name. The place was a chaotic mix of people, rife with crime.
That same day, Zhou Jiahe took part in a gang fight for fifty dollars and was beaten bloody. In a dingy, damp roast-meat shop, battered and disheveled, he saw Gu Jinzhao surrounded by people.
"Little girl, waiting for me here on New Year's Day?" Zhou Jiahe ground his cigarette butt underfoot and clenched his fists.
On New Year's Day, Zhou Jiahe brought home a frail young woman and gave her food and shelter.
He thought he'd picked up a little white rabbit. Little did he know he was the puppy being watched by the big bad wolf.
In the dark corners of Hong Kong, there was filth, crime, violence, poverty, conspiracy...
Nothing could defeat her.
Because she came from the apocalypse three hundred years in the future. Back then, her name was Survivor No. 66 of the Grain Depot.
Compared with surviving the apocalypse, what was this?
She would bring the murderers to justice.
She would take the tycoon's place.
Her tumultuous life would begin here.
But first, someone would pick her up...
Having food to eat every day didn't sound so bad, either.
*
Zhou Jiahe had been on his own since the age of six, growing up by scraping out a living in Kowloon Walled City.
It was cold and damp, narrow and cramped, and he was always bruised and bloodied.
He was just a hooligan. If one day he vanished without a trace, that would be his fate.
Until, at twenty, he met a young woman.
That day, Zhou Jiahe's hands shook so badly he could barely light his cigarette.
His voice trembled:
"Hey, little girl."
"You know it's dangerous to go home with a strange man, right?"
*
In the apocalypse, food was scarce and affection even scarcer.
Gu Jinzhao didn't understand romance between men and women. She only cared about eating.
Zhou Jiahe was often left speechless, unsure what to say.
He constantly questioned his own existence, his expression complicated.
One day, Gu Jinzhao finally caught on.
She looked at Zhou Jiahe in his apron, her expression complicated:
Could the tycoon in the book actually be him?
Theme: Live life to the fullest and change what you regret
Hahahahahahaha I'm laughing so hard. I tell you a number and the hen will lay it for me.
?: You said we will give birth to you? (¬_¬)
Could this be Uncle Wu's girlfriend who was cheated on?
The people in this village are really wicked... I hope they will be poor for the rest of their lives.
It involves common sense about architecture haha
After reading this chapter, some of my previous doubts were solved (Happy)
What an amazing development...
I also asked, is my aunt here to see my fifth uncle?
So, is it possible that what aunt is looking for is Uncle Wu?
Black beans are pretty smart, right?
