The First Researcher in the Galaxy

(Later on, this story will shift toward a more romance-focused direction.)

In a wasteland world ravaged by natural disasters, vast areas of land are polluted and animals and plants have undergone widespread mutations. To survive, humans have also evolved different levels of psychic power.

Not all humans evolved. Those who developed high-level psychic powers became nobles and seized control of the entire Federation. Commoners who had yet to awaken their psychic powers could only scrape by in the wasteland, living off what they could while being exploited. The lowest among them were called "inferior stock."

Researcher is the most sought-after profession in the wasteland. Researchers need high-level psychic powers and must work alongside soldiers and healers to discover, cultivate, and study mutated plants and animals in the wasteland, obtaining precious resources to keep the entire Federation running.

Fortunately, biologist Meng Quanzhen transmigrated into the body of an "inferior" who had awakened her psychic powers.

Unfortunately, she accidentally ate a bite of mushroom, lost her psychic powers, and began showing signs of mutation. She was imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for life and lost her chance to compete for a researcher position at the Federation Academy.

Meng Quanzhen: "The mushrooms taste so good, how can you blame them? It must be because there wasn't enough oil, I didn't add garlic, or the mushrooms weren't cooked through!"

Misfortune may be a blessing in disguise, and blessings may conceal misfortune.

Meng Quanzhen returned to the Federation Academy and gradually became the Federation's top researcher.

On one side, the Noble Academy wantonly polluted humanity's home. On the other, commoners struggled to survive in the wasteland's mire.

Nobles and financial conglomerates controlled the rules of the world's game. How could those who benefited from the system willingly give up their power?

Meng Quanzhen, representing the common people: Move aside. Let me take a turn at making the rules.
