After the Mission Failed

I was reborn. (My coffin lies buried at the bottom of a deep valley.) I was reborn on the day I first joined the immortal sect. (No secret lasts forever.) In my previous life, I failed a mission and was erased by the System. In this life... Xie Jiangzhi struggled up from the riverbank and kicked away the huge pot behind him. To hell with the System! To hell with the mission! I'm done! Given another life, he was going to Cloud Tower to raise cats. * All cultivators knew the name of Immortal Lord Hengwu, the only demon cultivator in the world to have reached the Mahayana stage. She was just one step away from ascending to immortality, and the frost-heavy sword in her hand could split mountains and fill seas. Cloud Tower was shrouded in mist all year round. The only one who lived there was a cat named He Wan. One day, a despicable human lured her with delicious dried fish, and she made an exception by hiring him as her cook. Later, she realized that this two-legged beast could do more than cook. He could make pretty little outfits, carve exquisite toys, and go to all sorts of lengths to cheer her up... She decided to add him to her ranks of servants. She never expected that the wretched two-legged beast wanted to be more than just a servant. * Xie Jiangzhi was famous for being stingy. He wished he could split every coin in two, saving one half to buy He Wan dried fish. Wherever he went, he wouldn't leave so much as a single coin behind. What? Medicinal herbs? Save them to nourish He Wan. What? Beast cores? Save them to improve He Wan's cultivation. What? A pink pearl? Save it to make He Wan a necklace... She doesn't want it? Then set it into Shuangzhong's blade. Whatever junk was left, he turned around and sold to someone else at a high price. The cultivators who had bought things from him: "..." That thief Xie is a dead man tonight! Theme: Stay positive and keep moving forward.
