* The main story was completed on August 9, Extra 1 on August 13, and Extra 2, the true epilogue and ending, on August 22. This series is officially complete! Thank you for reading and keeping me company! o(*////▽////*)q
* The commissioned cover is finally done! I uploaded the cover I commissioned for this story on October 6. The artist is a literal angel! Thank you!
When Munakata Reisi drove his sword through the chest of the man he was most fixated on, the one he could never let go of, the one who made him feel so powerless that he had no choice but to make this decision, he was twenty-four years old, the same age as himself.
The blood in his body had barely cooled. He let out a breath of air that still carried his scent and warmth, accepting his fate. For the last time, instead of falling backward, he leaned forward and embraced himself. In this brilliant, tragic, and utterly futile way, he ended a life that had barely made it a quarter of the way through.
Now even the Slate, the Kings, and all their power had become things of the past. This man had simply been born at the wrong time. He hadn't lived to see it.
But was Munakata Reisi really going to become what he called a "bureaucrat, a little office worker sitting behind a desk," and keep living this ordinary life that still felt like something was missing, trying to heal the biggest, most broken wound in his heart, a wound he had no idea how long it would take to mend?
Or should he take a gamble? A gamble unlike any other, one that staked the rest of his life, even though he had never done anything so reckless or so uncertain?
After all, before he met Suoh Mikoto, he had never imagined he would fall in love with someone who was his complete opposite in every way, yet could be the one and only person to sit beside him.
He only wanted to go back and hold him one more time, and share a couple of glasses of the ubiquitous bourbon with him.
* The gong and shou, and the main pairing, are firmly Mikoto/Reisi. I don't read them the other way around, and I won't break them up. The relationships between the other characters are primarily about their bonds. The implied and indirectly mentioned CPs are Fushimi/Yata and Izumo/Saruhiko.
* I'll refer to some theories about fluctuations in time and the logic of time travel, but there will definitely be plot holes. I'm no expert in this area; I just really wanted to write this premise. If anything seems strange, unscientific, or unreasonable, it's because of my limitations, and nothing else.
* Reisi may seem like the one who's fixated on him at first, but the feelings between the two Kings are absolutely mutual. Absolutely!
* I ramble a lot, and I love nitpicking and describing details. So don't blame me if it gets boring.
* Mainly from Reisi's POV. Reisi will have slightly more screen time than Mikoto.
* I love Mikoto/Reisi! Mikoto/Reisi can go on for another hundred years! Come chat with me!
Theme: After the second season and the Return of Kings timeline, Reisi decides to go back to the point where the two first met and rewrite his and Suoh Mikoto's ending in his own way, as Munakata Reisi.
Finished reading it in one sitting! I'm so grateful to see such a beautiful new Zunli article in 2023. I started Zunli in 2016, and it's been six or seven years now. I have to say that Zunli is a masterpiece. Thank you again for the teacher's cooking. I love it so much.
It is the luckiest thing for me to still be able to eat such fragrant gift food in 2023!
Thank you to my wife for continuing to write firmly. After reading this chapter, I still have to sigh that my wife's writing is so good... Not only is the relationship between Zunli described so beautifully, but it also expresses my wife's indescribable love for Zunli and her indescribable affection for the characters... I also hoped to do something for the products I like, but I have been stalled. Seeing my wife's comments later gave me a great feeling. Thank you very much for creating such a touching work. Please give me such respect...
Thank you for meeting me, please continue to be happy like this!
This article is really nice! The wedding was so beautiful. Zunli must be happy in the two-dimensional world!!!
It's been 24 years and I can still read such a good article (I burst into tears QAQ). I didn't expect that the treasures I found on Ao3 were also found in JJ. Thank you, madam, for giving Zunli such a good ending, what a treasure woooooooo XX
It's so good to see my wife again during this time
All the honors and gifts will bloom brilliantly, right (?▽`)ノ?
It's a good ending at first glance! Very much looking forward to it
And the scene where you hit your head against the wall? I'm so looking forward to it hahahahaha
