Delsis transmigrates by accident into an obscure otome game, where she becomes an unloved princess. Her brother sends her to another country as a marriage pawn, but just as she is about to arrive, the captain of the knights escorting her kills her.
When Delsis gets the chance to be reborn, she remembers the knight route she never chose to pursue in the game and decides to play along and win over the captain: showing goodwill, pledging her loyalty, and doing everything she can to please him. She tries every method she can think of, and each time she believes she will survive because she is about to win him over, she still meets the same cruel end just before reaching the foreign land.
Unable to win him over, Delsis decides to run away on the way to her marriage.
But can someone tell her why she can't explore the area ahead? And why does she always get caught so quickly?
After dying 24 times, in her 25th loop, Delsis and the captain are attacked on the road and fall into a cave below a cliff. Faced with a pile of firewood giving off a faint glow and the last of their meager soup, she automatically picks up the bowl and offers it to the captain. When she catches his cold, hesitant gaze, Delsis suddenly remembers the pain and despair of dying in all those previous lives, as well as the captain's fearsome, twisted face looming before her as her consciousness faded.
She finally can't take it anymore. She gets up, spills the soup, and smashes the bowl against the captain, cursing, "Eat it or don't, I don't care! What's wrong with you?!"
For good measure, she stamps out the fire and kicks over the cooking pots.
Captain: ?
Delsis thinks she's angered the captain and brought her death closer, but instead she sees an expression in his eyes she's never seen before. His trembling pupils seem to reveal a sense of wonder and shock, and... faint admiration.
Delsis's inner monologue: ...? Are you a masochist or something?
After being tortured to death so many times, Delsis gives up on winning him over and completely stops trying. When the captain starts treating her so differently from how he did in her past lives, she feels like she may have finally found a way to survive...
Princess: Who can relate? Ever since I started having mental breakdowns, my mental state has actually improved a lot.
Knight: Who can relate? Ever since I took the bowl a second late that night, the whole world has felt different.
Only after Delsis has staked everything on the hope of survival does she finally realize that, on the back of the game disc case she bought in her very first life, there was a small warning:
"When the player actively pursues an available hidden male character, they will be forced into a bad ending."
P.S. In short, this is the story of a devoted otome-game fan who goes mad when she can get neither life nor love.
Core message: Conviction can break through shackles.
