What Does It Feel Like to Have Feelings?

(1) Long Jiu had looked after her childhood sweetheart for nineteen years. On Gu Yang's twentieth birthday, Long Jiu confessed her feelings and kissed her.

After the kiss, Long Jiu thought their relationship had entered a whole new phase and that they could start a new chapter together.

But Gu Yang said, "I didn't really feel anything. It was like my lips touching my own lips. Nothing special."

Long Jiu pulled her clothes aside a little and kissed Gu Yang's swanlike neck.

Gu Yang said, "I still don't feel anything. It was like being wiped with a towel." Then she worriedly added, "It's the middle of winter, and we've taken off our thick clothes. Won't we catch cold?"

As Long Jiu zipped Gu Yang's clothes back up, she asked dejectedly, "Don't you like me?"

"Of course I do," Gu Yang answered without a second thought.

Long Jiu: "Then when I kiss you..."

Gu Yang: "I don't feel anything."

Where was the problem?

(2) Her daughter had been pursuing her sweetheart for over a decade, but there was still no good news. Mu Yiyan, worried that her daughter had inherited her wife's stubborn streak, bought Long Jiu two boxes of comics, two boxes of novels, and two boxes of romance guides, hoping she would win over the woman she loved soon.

One day, on a whim, she started tidying up the storeroom and unexpectedly found all those boxes sitting there, unopened. The tape on the outside hadn't even been peeled off. Mu Yiyan finally understood where the problem lay.

After all these years, what had they been using to fall in love? Pure friendship?
