The Cannon Fodder Husband Goes Viral on a Parenting Show

[There are other monthly short stories in my column]

Third-tier star Jian Ling had finally made it big, only to transmigrate on the very day he won Best Supporting Actor.

He became the doomed cannon-fodder wife in a novel. His son was his stepson, and his husband was a fake husband bound to him by contract.

On the first day after transmigrating, his contract husband wanted a divorce.

Jian Ling readily agreed. "Anyone who backs out of this divorce is a dog."

His contract husband changed his mind at the last minute. The divorce never happened, and instead he bundled Jian Ling and his stepson off to a parenting variety show.

Netizens: "Wicked stepdad, stay away from our baby Rui Rui!"

Sweet little Rui Rui replied, "Don't say that about my little dad. He's really good to me!"

Sometimes Jian Ling couldn't tell who was taking care of whom.

Rui Rui was practically a little all-purpose caretaker.

When Jian Ling had an episode, he would comfort him: "Little Dad, don't cry. Rui Rui will blow on it, and then it won't hurt."

When Jian Ling had finally fallen asleep, he told the production crew, "Shh, keep your voices down. Don't wake Little Dad."

The livestream chat went wild:

[Rui Rui, you're the baby here!]

[Rui Bao is the best-behaved child in the world.]

[Jian Ling, you're so lucky.]

[I don't care, get up and take care of Rui Rui!]

The next second, the camera panned over Jian Ling's peaceful sleeping face.

[Never mind, let him sleep.]

[We'll forgive him for that face.]

Jian Ling came to celebrate Rui Rui's birthday.

Sitting across the table was none other than his contract-bound fake husband, Shen Huaifeng. Shen Huaifeng asked Rui Rui, "What do you wish for today?"

Rui Rui: "Dad, I want a little sister."

Shen Huaifeng glanced at Jian Ling, his expression unreadable.

Jian Ling: "?"

No way. Why are you looking at me?
