Being a Decent Person in a Rules-Horror World

A strange world descends upon Earth, bringing disaster to all humanity. Those chosen are sent into a world of ghost stories, where they must clear the stories to survive. The strange world also livestreams their attempts to people in Huaguo, making its sinister purpose clear.

Overworked office drone Ai Hongdou is chosen by a rules-based ghost story after pulling an all-nighter for work, and enters the story world.

To survive, Ai Hongdou has to cautiously feel her way through. Luckily, when choosing her talent, she drew the Be a Good Person talent. As long as she plays the role assigned to her in the story, she can avoid being corrupted by the supernatural.

The trouble is, there aren't many good people in these rules-based ghost stories. Ai Hongdou says playing these characters is pretty challenging.

Rules-Based Ghost Story: The Irritable Menopausal Single Mom

Chosen to play the mother, Ai Hongdou has to win over the two strange children around her with love.

The strange little boy's eyes glow red. He bares a mouthful of black fangs and growls, "Mom, I want a lollipop. Can you buy me one?"

Livestream viewers:

"Oh no, the strange kid is asking for a lollipop. The rules say kids shouldn't eat too much candy. That probably means he can't have any. But I have a feeling refusing him would have terrible consequences, too."

"What do we do? Is there no way to beat this? I don't want this young lady to die so soon."

Mom Ai Hongdou: "Just look at those black teeth of yours, and you still want candy? Go on, eat, eat, eat! As if your teeth weren't rotten enough already!"

Strange little boy: What? You dare insult me? You're dead!

He lunges to bite her, and his teeth shatter all over the floor.

The strange little boy bursts into tears: "Waaah, my teeth!!!"

Livestream viewers: What just happened? We're so confused.

Mom Ai Hongdou: "You little brat, you thought you could eat me? Keep dreaming."

Rules-Based Ghost Story: The Snarky Troll Reader

This time, Ai Hongdou is chosen to play a reader.

Strange author: "Why won't you read my story? Is it not good? Read it right now! Or I'll kill you!"

Livestream viewers:

"The author is supernatural, so you can't refuse him. If you do, he'll reveal his true form right there. But if you take the book, it's a source of corruption, and you'll be corrupted."

"I think we can only take a chance. Corruption might not be fatal, but refusing to read the book definitely is."

Reader Ai Hongdou: "This story is so hard to read! I can't get through it! I've never read anything this awful. It's complete crap! Look at the garbage you've written! Everyone likes the male lead, right? Even a ninety-nine-year-old granny just walking by is interested in him. Are you writing a story, or just indulging in your own fantasies?"

The strange author, too fragile to take criticism, drops dead on the spot.
