Hands Off the New King of the Underworld

After enduring the inhumane torment of 996 work schedules, wage slave Ji Shixing decided he would never work for someone else again. He was going to be the boss!

And then, without warning, he became the newly appointed ruler of the underworld.

Faced with an underworld that was practically starting from scratch, Ji Shixing pondered for a moment.

Forget it. First, I'll grab a programmer who died suddenly and get them to write software for the Book of Life and Death. (Sigh.)

Since this world was created, the gates of the underworld had never once opened.

The souls of the dead wandered among the living. Some faded away, some devoured their own kind, and some even became ghost kings who wreaked havoc upon the world.

Then, one day, the underworld, closed for hundreds of thousands of years, opened.

Everyone waited anxiously for the fearsome, vicious ruler of the underworld. Instead, they saw a handsome young man leaning sleepily against the gates, with the endless River of the Underworld and countless wailing souls behind him.

"The underworld is hiring. Six thousand nether coins after tax, full social insurance and housing fund, improved-flavor Granny Meng's soup, free access to watch the Eighteen Great Tortures, and no waiting in line for reincarnation."

The ruler of the underworld, who seemed almost too good-looking, glanced at everyone without much interest.

"Alive or dead, it doesn't matter. Dead is even better. Anyone want to sign up?"
