Cherished

The Wen family had generations of loyal heroes, and Wen Yin had lived in the Prince of Chu's residence since she was ten.

The Prince of Chu and his consort treated her like their own daughter. They arranged her marriage to their heir, Xiao Cheng, and said they could wed once she was grown. The heir agreed without hesitation.

For six years, the heir doted on her endlessly, and even after the Prince of Chu and his consort passed away, he never changed.

She thought he was willing to marry her. She thought he liked her, too.

Until she overheard him telling someone else that she was nothing more than a pretty butterfly in his garden.

Xiao Cheng had a garden filled with all kinds of rare treasures, beautiful and extravagant, each worth a fortune. Yet they were nothing more than decorations. He only went to look at them when he was in the mood.

With tears in her eyes, she ran away, only to discover she had nowhere to hide. Xiao Cheng had spoiled her so much that she didn't even know her way around the capital.

When she was found and brought back in a wretched state, all she got from Xiao Cheng was an impatient frown.

Wen Yin lowered her eyes. She didn't have to marry him.
