Marrying the Brooding Imperial Uncle

At the age of five, Ji Yunyi was brought back to the palace by the empress and raised as a princess.

When she came of age, she learned the truth.

The empress had raised her so she could be sent to the emperor.

Ji Yunyi had always thought of the emperor as a kind and gentle father. When she learned she was to become her imperial father's consort, she could hardly accept it.

On the night the imperial edict was drafted, Ji Yunyi cried until her eyes were swollen and red. Clutching a jug of wine, she drank herself into a stupor in the palace. In her daze, she bumped into someone.

The man forcibly lifted her chin, his rough fingertips pressing hard against every inch of her cheek until her skin stung. "Don't want to enter the imperial harem? This prince will help you."

The next day, Ji Yunyi received an imperial decree granting her a marriage.

She obeyed the decree and married her imperial uncle, Prince Wei.

Prince Wei was cold and distant. Ji Yunyi found his eyes sinister and terrifying, and they filled her with fear. Even at night, he would not let her go. He would always bend her soft body and torment her until dawn.

Not long after her wedding, Ji Yunyi returned to the palace.

When the emperor saw her again, she was standing beneath the wisteria trellis he had built for her, her delicate arms wrapped around Prince Wei's neck as she timidly offered him a kiss.

From afar, he watched Prince Wei grip her waist as they clung to each other in a passionate embrace.

The emperor crushed the jade bangle he had never managed to give her in his bare hand. "I regret it."
