Ming Jingci, the Eldest Princess of the Great Jing, is betrayed by her close friend and sworn younger sister, who schemes to have her betrothed to the regent's adopted eldest son. The night before the wedding, she learns by chance that the regent plans to kill her. To escape the trap, she fakes her death and flees Bianjing, assumes another person's identity, disguises herself as a man, and joins the army.
By a twist of fate, she becomes the personal guard of the great general, Marquis Changying. Xie Changying is brave, resourceful, and handsome. Every noble family's daughter of a certain standing wants to marry him, but he has lost an arm and is also the regent's adopted son. Everyone knows the regent and the current emperor are sworn enemies, so most noble families have abandoned the idea. And since he keeps his distance from women, those who hoped to find another way to place a girl at his side have had no opportunity either.
As for her, Ming Jingci is the Eldest Princess of Great Jing, and she once nearly died at the regent's hands. If she fell into Xie Changying's hands and her identity was exposed, there would be no chance of surviving. From then on, Ming Jingci spent every day trying to conceal who she was, terrified that one day she would die by his blade.
In the end, Ming Jingci could not keep her identity hidden. She thought the general would have her executed in public, but instead, he pretended not to know and helped cover for her.
Xie Changying thinks something must be wrong with him. He actually wants to spend every day with his personal guard. Perhaps he has the sort of same-sex inclinations his ancestors wrote about. To root out this affliction, he decides to replace his personal guard, only to discover that the guard is a little white rabbit in a dog's disguise.
In short, it's the story of a crafty princess disguising herself as a well-behaved little white rabbit to win over a mighty wolf of a war god.
